I personally take exception to McCain's war record.

Firstly, prior to being shot down and captured he was awarded medals every General or Admirals son would have been awarded in a time of war. I doubt seriously if they were actually earned. Maybe they were but I've seen it happen to other mediocre progeny (Patton's son to name one) so it's not a stretch to believe it happened in his case.

Secondly, he refused an unconditional release by his captures, denying valuable intel to his leaders regarding conditions, his fellow prisoners and quite possibly the location where they were being held. His duty was to escape and I think an unconditional release qualifies.

In all that bellicose you didn't answer. Why wouldn't you support Webb's Bill.

Don't let him get away with this Bull Obama. Who cares if McCain served in the military and was a prsioner of war. That does not make him right or approrpaite for the Presidency. Don't let them play this "you were not in the military" garbage on you.

Is McCain therefore saying that all males and females in this country who do not and did not serve in the military are second class citizens or that they should take a back seat to him on what we feel our country should do for veterans simply because he did serve at one time. That's BS and everyone knows it.

You might respond Obama by saying no, I did not serve in the military but I was raised by a single mother which is something you would not understand McCain or know anything about, and thererofore I understand how important it is to help people in need at certain times i ntheir lives including returning vets with their college education.

As a former military enlisted veteran. You have to understand John McCain's stance since he was a military officer. Officers make very good money as compared to the regular joe blow enlisted person. To be an officer you have to have a bachelors degree or higher. To be an enlisted person, you just basically have to have graduated from high school and not have too much trouble with the law.. So if you actually allow enlisted personnel to become educated, then they will realize how much they are being taken advantage of for the sacrifice they make. I mean I don't consider John McCain a hero. He had a cake walk compared to the men (during his time)on the ground or actually doing the real work.. He flew a frickin aircraft.. He probably crashed and was taken captive. Not that he was on the ground in a jungle somewhere, i mean give me a frickin break.. he is a joke..

In the last election, a genuine war hero, John Kerry, was smeared by supporters of George Bush. They said it didn't matter ole' George never saw combat. This year, we are supposed to obey "General" McCain because he suffered as a POW during the Vietnam War. I respect John McCain's service, unlike the Swiftboaters who smeared Kerry, but I don't think his service automatically qualifies him for the Presidency.
