What can you say about this guy. The man has done nothing in his entire career, but yet, he stands there and tells us over and over that he has some kind of magical answers that are going to solve the worlds problems. He has not been to Iraq in nearly 3 years, and the last time he was there was for less then 2 days, and he somehow thinks he knows what is going on in that country. He won't talk to the generals, the troops, or anyone in the Pentagon, and yet he says he knows what's best for both Iraq and the US. Elitist doesn't even begin to describe Obama. You need to add in the words 'naive', 'dangerous', and 'clueless' to just begin to describe Obama.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

If it wasn’t crystal clear before, it now is –> unless they want a bloodbath in August and a defeat in November, THE SUPERDELEGATES MUST ACT NOW TO END THIS THING.

Obama '08

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

Obama has been REACTIVE his entire campaign. He needs to apologize, then he needs to explain, then he needs to go to Iraq......Has he ever thought of being PROACTIVE for once???????? It is like he is letting the clock run out and that looks bad. What is he scared of? Or is it that he is just plain inexperienced? Also, the 2025/2026 doesn't include Michigan and Florida. Until that is resolved stop touting 2025/2026 as the magic number.....nobody has the magic number of delegates yet.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

"Republicans will be secretly showing up Saturday in order to cause chaos and make the party look ridiculous on national TV."

No the Dems do a good enough job of that themselves they dont need any help.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

This is just the begining of how McCain is going to make Obama look like he is not fit to be president.
Talk about boxed in! Has McCain boxed Obama in on this issue -- because if he does actually go to Iraq, will it look like McCain’s idea?
______________________________________________________

Come on guys. You can do better than this. You can't really suggest that because McCain's only position in this election is on the war, that somehow by Obama doing his duty (any candidate would visit before the GE) it would appear McCain pressured him into it!

That idea is ridiculous. Barack Obama is his own man!

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

Sen. Clinton is so desperate that she is now resorting to "goon squad" demonstrations by her supporters so as intimidate the DNC. She just gets more and more pathetic as this campaign drags on.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

We appear to have a lot of Obama supporters here. As a Republican looking in, I have to ask: What happens if Hillary somehow manages to get the nomination and convinces the Super Delegates to change sides and vote for her due to the electility argument? I would have to assume that this scenario would be a total nightmare for the Democrats in November. Will you all support Clinton if she becomes the nominee? It also appears that the Clinton campaign is somehow trying to plant the seeds that the nomination is being stolen from her a la Al Gore in 2000 due to the mess in Florida and Michigan. To me, this is a very dangerous tactic as well. If Clinton supporters believe that they are being unfairly treated or were somehow wronged in the nomination contest, will they still vote for Obama in the fall? I just don't see how this ends positively for both sides if the Clinton campaign continues to drag this out. Why are the Super Delegates not stepping in and siding for one of the candidates?
I ask this because I am curious and was hoping to get some feedback. I can say with a straight face (no I am not hoping for a circus this weekend), that I am concerned as a voter, not as democrat or republican, that overturning these results (ignoring the delegate lead, popular lead, etc.) would be a bad thing for everybody.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

Hey Capt Smash:
Don't YELL at the fine First Read crew for not posting stories about how many soldiers are getting killed in Iraq. Bear in mind this is in the Politics section and that it deals with stories of politics and now the election races. If you want to make a point about the war then "embed" a line or two in one of your comments like I do.

We've almost reached the 4,100 mark in the number of brave American soldiers that have been killed by a tyrant in the White House who doesn't care how many die to save his legacy.

I get a kick out of your rather lengthy posts but most of all I'm totally enjoying that such a radical is living in Salt Lake City, home of very conservative morons.

Carry on Carrying On!

Go Obama 08/12!

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

I think Obama should go to Iraq, although certainly not with McCain. According to reporters on the ground, Obama wouldn't really see much given security, but his visit would engender POWERFUL photo images and take the wind out of McCain's sagging sails.

I, too, have wondered why McCain is parroting Clinton's attacks against Obama. Why does McCain think they'll work? In fact, McCain's attacks are backfiring in that his attacks sound very personal, condescending and dismissive. While Republicans who already support McCain may not mind that, McCain's acerbic attacks may not bring any new supporters his way. They certainly won't sway Obama supporters to give him a chance. Maybe McCain is hoping Hillary's supporters will vote for him if he uses Hillary's old message--it could work if that's the case as some Hillary supporters have said they will switch parties if Hillary is not the nominee.

The RBC meeting on Saturday is sure to be a divisive mess that will tear the party apart. There is no turning back from protests that will leave Hillary supporters feeling like they're fighting their own war over one woman's civil rights versus fighting a larger battle against the Republicans. Shame on the DNC for letting things go this far, and shame on Hillary for putting her ambitions above the party.

First thoughts: Obama boxed in?

John Smith, I will take the 48 that did obey the rules. If you want to vote McCain or stay home, so be it. We'll win without you. Sad that you two states think you are more important than anyone else. Hillary can take this where she wants, but she has just suckers behind her now, and they will be whining until the convention, but it's too late. She lost.
