Making this a line of attack will remind everyone of McCain’s dog and pony show where he visited Bagdad market guarded by “100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead” while wearing a bullet-proof vest. McCain's statement afterwards made him the joke on every comedy program and blog in and out of the country. Our troops in Iraq have better things to then act as guide to these dog and pony shows. Verb usage, as they're arguing, is VERY IMPORTANT because it speaks to your judgement and competence. Bush is judged by "Mission Accomplished" and not "will be" as he probably wishes now.

I thought that McCain claimed to be an expert on Iraq. With the way that he's been stepping all over himself no one should believe him. He doesn't even have a definition of "success". Everyone here knows that 144,000 troops is more than 130,000 therefore McCain is a liar. For all of his claims of patriotism, John McCain didn't even support our troops by signing the GI Bill. Someone needs to keep a list somewhere of all of these sorts of statements so that in the future if Jon Kyl lambastes Obama for misspeaking we can take Jon Kyl's quote, inscribe it onto a baseball bat, and then beat Jon Kyle with it.

I think politics would be much more enjoyable if this sort of enforcement of consistency was regulated and mandatory.

* On Webb's GI Bill, he expressed opposition, and he was AWOL when it was time to vote on May 22.

* Last September, he voted against another Webb bill that would have mandated adequate rest for troops between combat deployments.

* On a badly needed $1.5-billion increase for veterans medical services for fiscal year 2007 -- to be funded through closing corporate tax loopholes -- he voted no. He also voted against establishing a trust fund to bolster under-budgeted veterans hospitals.
