And her political brand does nothing to increase the political brand of Barack Obama--which I will assume he will run with. Practically, it doesn't make sense. As an independent who registered Dem in order to caucus for Obama, I will be hard pressed to vote for him if Hilary is his running mate. She (and Bill) would not bode well in any effort to effect change in this country. Obama has run his campaign on the premise that the Clintons are old politics and he is new politics. As a democrat, if the DNC wants to win in November they had better think of combining both camps. A joint ticket is the only way the democrats can win in November. I think one of the snarky critics said Obama would have to have a food taster if he got in with Hillary as VP. Personally I think WESLEY CLARK would be the best running mate for Obama, but given what a disaster Bush has been, being able to credibly say you'll go to a policy more like Bill Clinton's would not be seen as so bad when running against Grandpa McSame. Also, expect a number of people from Clinton's era in Cabinet and other jobs, but I don't think that'll be seen as so bad, either.

There are pros and cons to Hillary as VP. First, how will she explain all the negative things she said about Obama when she was running against him? Hillary's own words will be used to attack Obama.

1st AP: you guys love to jump the gun..... I know you love the drama and being able to say "we got the big story first," but your credibility has been exposed during this primary season, and the public will not forget how biased, opinionated, and unfair your coverage has been.... oh, did I mention sexist also?!?!

2nd: It's presumptuous and naive that the DNC members and Democratic leaders are talking about party unity after the rules and committee meetings. Far from it... The fact is 17.6 million people have cast their vote for Hillary Clinton. Obama and Hillary are separated by .1% difference (even if you give Obama the "uncommitted" from Michigan, Clinton still leads him. (See RealClear Politics) The point is by no measure has this been a landslide win (one way or the other) as the media loves to try and portray. Also, I think it's extremely important and relevant to point out that Clinton beat Obama in the pledged delegates awared through the primary system but lost to him due to the caucus system. In other words, she would be securing the nomination now if the “undemocratic” caucus system did not have so much weight behind it. Party insiders and DNC members (& Obama supporters) can talk about breaking rules all day long and about the fact that the caucus system is part of the nomination process; however, MOST voters believe the caucus system to be completely undemocratic and a ridiculous way to nominate. NOT all Americans can participate!!! Get it? How is this democratic? When you consider Clinton beat Obama in the primary delegate count (in which 33.5 million voters awarded her more delegates than Obama), and when you consider the only reason he beat her is because 1.1 million voters awarded him more delegates in the caucus process, you can easily come to the conclusion and understanding that Americans are angry, disenfranchised, and once again have been undermined as the "process" pushed our strongest candidate out. How can 1.1 million voters have more clout than 33.5 million voters? Another way to put it, how can a candidate win the popular vote in a state like Nevada & Texas and be awarded more delegates than the other candidate through the primary process but then lose the overall total delegates in that state because of the caucus system? This point PROVES that the caucus system is disjointed from the primary/popular vote system, and that the caucus system does NOT represent the entire population in a state. It only represents those willing and ABLE to spend an entire day (or more) in a closed-door election process. What a crazy system! (When I made calls on behalf of the Clinton Campaign to voters in caucus states, they had NO IDEA what a caucus was or why they should have to participate!) Add my point about the diluted nominating system to the fact that the media has sandblasted Clinton through this entire process to the fact that the Obama bloggers have been drunk on their own candidate and completely ruthless in their statements about Clinton and her supporters, and add in the fact that more people voted for her than any other candidate (last I checked, Obama’s name was not “uncommitted”), and add the fact that she dominated Obama in the must win swing states, and you have 17.6 million angry, dumbfounded, and put off voters.

It's ironic that Democrats bitch for 8 years that Bush stole the election because of an unfair process (a process in which Bush lost the popular vote but won the electoral votes to secure the nomination), but this year Democrates seem to be switching sides and arguing the "rules are the rules" and the "process is the process." We remember Democrats, do you? Well.....the process is once again flawed, and democrats are once again up for a nail-bitter in the fall. Obama may have money, power, and influence (which makes DNC members and Democratic leaders twitch with giddy delight and opportunistic glee), BUT Hillary Clinton has the voter support-- the core democratic base, the swing states, and the electoral votes needed to hand McCain his lunch in the fall. So, we put in our second sting player…. Thanks Democrats! You've lost your focus....our goal is/was to take back the White House and give Americans back a Democratic leader!

The ONLY way for you to salvage your reputations and unit the party to win in the fall is to offer Clinton the VP slot. If you don't........good luck to you. I'm one of those millions that will be registering independent or sitting this one out. Why? As much as I fear McCain running for 4 or 8 years, I am a voter that is sick to death of being overlooked, undermined, and tossed aside. First, I will acknowledge that I am not a Clinton supporter, never have been (or will be, most likely), and - until a year ago - was a registered Republican. I will be voting for Obama this election.

I, for one, do not believe Clinton when she claims to express interest in the VP position with Obama. I have felt for some time now that she only continues in the race because she wants to further damage relations between Obama and her followers. In my opinion, her ego is such that she could never accept a number two position; her ego would not allow it - an ego and lust for power that kept her with a man most women would have dumped "way back when;" an ego that wants to be President - not VP.

By continuing in this race when most people said she should concede to solidify the party, she just fuels the fire of anger towards Obama. By "expressing an interest" in the VP slot, she only puts Obama in more hot water when he selects someone else - and I have to believe he will because there has been too much ill will expressed between them (of which she took the lead). By keeping that anger towards Obama "alive and well" in her supporters, she knows there is a greater chance McCain beats Obama in this election and she has more of a chance to run again in four years as the "savior" of the Democratic party. And - YES - I do believe she would put herslf ahead of the good of the Democratic party and the American people.

All the talk about her pledging her support to Obama when he wins the nomination - for the good of the party and the country - is (admittedly, IN MY OPINION) just more of the same old political crap that we have seen all too often from Washington and the cronies who feed off the scraps of crap politicians toss out on a regular basis.

I am one of those disenchanted Americans who has become sick and tired of politicians places the good of the country in position number 3 - BEHIND their own good and interests and the "party's" best interests. Clinton is simply more of the same thing - her "change" is simply a change of the party that's doing the damage. Obama offers an opportunity to make a change in the way our government opperates and the way we - as a great nation - can regain our lost stature in the world.

That's analagous to watching a basketball team and saying "One team scored more points, but the other team had the louder cheering section: It's a tie!" Rather, delegates decide elections and not the popular vote. Even if we concede that HRC won the popular vote (and that argument remains shaky), all candidates start off with the sames rules of engagement - that delegates are what matter - and must hold to them.

You must all remember as well that there is a core of typically republican voters who are also unsatisfied with McCain and are looking a better option. Eastern WA voters are very republican (opposite of thier Seattle couterparts), and I am one of a large group here that are supporting Obama rather than the traditional Republican because we are disatified with McCain. I am an independent, not a closet Democrat or Republican. I agree with McCain on somethings, but not on most, because somethings are different, but most is a carry forward of the last 8 years.

The Obama/Clinton ticket might appear to be a dream ticket and may very well end up being so. However, given the constant attacks from the HRC camp, it will be a tough sell. Obama can win on his own with another VP candidate. I am sure a popular governor male or female would add strength to the ticket.

HRC has played it very smart, that much you have to admire. Push to the end, attack, attack, attack, then hope for a fatal mistake in the campaign then make a concession (Willing to be VP). Obama should consider her, she does have wide support, but he should ensure she knows she will have to run with him on his terms. He can listen to her advice but she should not try to promote her next campaign for the next 8 years. Get on board, stick to the plan, be a TEAM member, forget the I have it in the bag feeling she had in Dec 07 or the fact that Obama ran a good campaign to outmanouver her. Heck she was a tough candidate, McCain doesn't have half the abilities she has (He should be admired for who he was, not who he has become after 20+ years in DC). For Obama to pull that off takes more than charisma, or inspirational speeches, otherwise every self improvement Guru would be a presidential candidate. He believes in a greater future for America and he has tapped into the Nation's hunger for a new vision to regain its confidence and its destiny.

The nation will be well served with an honest team effort from HRC. I was her supporter until she went so negative. I finally realized it was none of the reasons people think it is. She had it in the bag, CW was clear until Dec, she was it, she was thinking ahead to the general election. Then her overconfidence and a better candidate and campaigner rocked that solid looking future. Her hanging on is almost like she cannot believe it can be anything but what she just knew would happen. That is why it feels like someone or something has robbed her of it. It has to be hard now, and she is a good leader in her own right. She will be president in 2016 if she focuses all her energies on the team, the future of the country and helping Obama deliver what the people want from our leaders. Can you imagine anyone but her as President if she showed she is a team player and dedicated to the greater delivering the greater good even if she is not at the head of the ticket?

While Hillary brings some benefits to the ticket I believe her negatives out-weigh them. She was the most negative person in this campaign so far, so much so that I've gone from supporting Hillary to undecided (I'm and independent moderate and I'm see-sawing between Obama and McCain). Her outright lies and slash and burn tactics really turned me off.

I firmly believe that Obama CAN win without her but can loose b/c of her. It's been amazing the rabid blind support of some of her more extreme supporters (which is fine until they just got plain nasty). These are so called Democrats who go and say if they don't get their way they will vote for a Republican??? As an Independent who is sick and tired of Republicans this type of attitude gives me pause...maybe the Republicans aren't as bad as I thought.

I am one of those "older white women" who feel that HIllary has been held to the different standard that many of us women have been held to in our careers. Ok this tension between Hillary and Obama by the people who are commenting is so childish. They are both amazing nominees and I would love Hillary to be on the ticket because I feel Obama wont be able to win on his own because a) Hillary won the popular vote) and b) If the democratic party didnt split the delegates between each single state, and did it how the republicans do where winner take all, Hillary would have already been the nominee a long time ago. While I think Obama supporters can dream whatever they want, alot of people (some 18 million) feel the nomination was stolen from Hillary and will vote for McCain if she is not on the ticket. If you want whats best for the party, then its time to unite them.
