McCain will lose in debates with Obama. Obma has WAY better oratory skills. If they stick to the issues, mcCain will not SURPASS Obama on energy dependence, immigration reform, things he bucked Bush on. everything else, Obama can successfully paint him as a third Bush term. His policies don't diverge from Bush' ENOUGH. It doesn't help McCain that the War (his strength) he recently fumbled on, and the general public wants to see it over. Obama will supercede on health care, jobs and the economy, education (Bush' failed "No Child Left Behind"), fuel, etc. Repubs are not domestic presidents. They're good at war and security/national defense. But, the public doesn't want any more expensive war, especially when Obama can rightly show that McCain won't even support healthcare for the returning troops or education for them. The country is ready for a different approach. As long as Obama can convince the average joe that diplomacy will keep us safe AND bring home those dying, get specific about his proposals, and keep religious scandal at bay, he'll win easily, sore Clintonistas and racists supporting McCain or not.

After watching you abandon your outsider status to gain the support ofthe neocons and ultra conservatives in the republican race and to embrace the Bush policies that you so vigorously denounced not long ago, you no longer resemble the candidate that I would have campaigned for and voted for.

I am an independent with a liberal social policy, but a republican fiscal policy. I had been consistently disappointed with the republican party's hubris not long after they gained the control of congress in 94. After Bush took office government has gotten bigger, not smaller that I expected of the republicans. Bush has done the opposite of every sitting president before him by cutting taxes to pay for the war, but increasing our national debt by $3.5 TRILLION. Yes, TRILLION.
