For all practical purposes we know the next president will be either the Democratic or Republican nominee - and for the first time one of the two is an African-American.

While we as a nation earned the justification to be just a little bit prouder today, here's to hoping this election will center on issues.

Not trivial crap like whether Lt. Kerry figured out how to work the Army awards system, or whether Lt. Bush was AWOL, or whether Vice President Gore was actually in Texas for flood relief or a fundraiser. But actual issues - a debate between differing visions on what we can be, what we should be, and what we ought to do with respect to real foreign and domestic challenges.

Obama clinches the nomination

I am looking forward to watching this remarkable young man lead our nation into a new era of HOPE,CHANGE,AND INTEGRITY,AND MOST OF ALL PEACE.

Obama clinches the nomination

Destiny...history...reality check?

Maybe America needed eight years of shock therapy, i.e., George Bush, to make us realize how far off course we have veered as a nation. Our long national nightmare will soon be over.

Back to life, back to reality, finally!!

Obama/trust his choice '08

Obama clinches the nomination

I sure hope that Obama can give SK Sibelius a serious thught at t very prominent role liek supreme justice or AG. What kind of supposed war hero divorces the woman who waited for him to return from the war, and concealed her own life-threatening car crash injuries for his benefit? McCain married his current millionaire heiress beer-distributor wife, 17 years his junior, one month after dumping Carol Shepp McCain, who, as Sen. McCain so gallantly put it, "was on crutches and had gained quite a bit of weight."

"In his book, The Nightingale's Song, Robert Timberg chronicled McCain's post-Vietnam military assignments and some of his "adulterous" behavior leading to his divorce from Carol and marriage to Cindy Hensley. "

"While Executive Officer and later as Squadron Commander McCain used his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and "engage in extra-marital affairs." Such behavior was a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice rules against adultery and fraternization with subordinates... "

You can read the whole sad story here.

http://www.usvetdsp.com/mcaindiv.htm

I don't know how any woman could vote for this two timer and still look in the mirror every morning.

This time, instead of voting against abortion and gay marriage, and for prayer and guns (these issues will never go away) -- vote for your wallet , vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs.

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again

Obama clinches the nomination

I've said before that I don't think Obama can beat McCain because I don't see how Obama will carry Florida. It is possible that Hillary Clinton (as either vice-president or simply a surrogate) could sway some of those angry and disenfranchised voters, plus Latinos, plus the Jewish vote in Florida to help put a Democrat in office, but even she has an uphill battle thanks to the silly DNC. And if McCain picks Gov. Crist as his running mate, the Dems lose hands down. The 'alternative electoral map' seems like a lame idea.

Do I want Obama to offer Clinton the vice-presidency and do I want her to accept? Her campaign structure is there for the picking. 16 million voters they can petition instantly to put a Dem in the White House. I see no other running mate pick who can offer that gold mine. And McCain has nothing comparable. So, yes, Obama should make the offer. He needs her. Should Hillary take it? Again, I don't think Obama will win, so no, she shouldn't. And she shouldn't go down with his ship. Let Richardson or someone do that part. She should run again in 2012 if she wants to...or not.

Suppose she does take Obama's offer. There has been much whining and wringing of hands about "What in the world would Obama do with two Clintons in the White House!? Get a food taster, blah, blah." This is a false argument if we are to believe that Obama truly is fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

We are supposed to accept from Obama supporters that he is more than ready to confront Iran, Venezuela and N. Korea...and don't forget China. We can rest easy that he will end the Iraq war long before he leaves office. We should understand that the wave of illegal immigrants (and who knows who else) storming our unprotected borders and unprotected ports don't frighten him. That thing swirling down the national toilet bowl called our 'economy' will be fished out just in time as he somehow provides 40/hr.wk. good jobs with benefits, by stopping corporate America from shipping our livelihood overseas. And don't worry about that trade deficit! He knows how to be isolationist and global at the same time! Chicago, the Senator's home ground is bloody with gang warfare, but our soaring national crime problem doesn't scare him nor does, presumably, the Medusa-like gun lobby. Housing crash, $5 gas, the fight against Big Oil for energy alternatives and Big Pharma for a decent national health
plan....doesn't cow him.

This will all be a piece of cake.

However, this same guy will be confronted with the direst of problems that any other President in the history of our country has faced: he will be completely stymied by the presence of the Clintons lurking in the hallways of the White House, scheming to ruin his legacy. How will he stop Hillary and Bill Clinton - who live down the street, by the way, not in the White House - from taking over his job? How will this uncompromising commander-in-chief possibly get these two people to follow his orders? Ahmadinejad??? BRING IT ON!! Hillary and Bill....oooo, scary...what will I do?!

It is stupid to NOT offer Hillary Clinton the vice-presidency because of what Bill might be doing. There may be other reasons to pick someone else. But if this is the reason, then Barack Obama has no business selling himself as a Commander-In-Chief.

Obama clinches the nomination

A MESSAGE TO HILLARYCLINTON.COM SENT THIS MORNING:

Please stop this! By by G-- she better start doing a better job of accpeting his victory, endorsing his candidacy and supporting him rather then playing the fence and threatening him with her voters. I might agree with you on some points but Hillary's behavior last night was atrocious to say the least. If she wants to be the VP then she better start acting like someone who can strongly support and be firmly committed to a boss (the President, Oabam). Otherwise she can kiss the VP slot goodbye. Sure, Obama wants Hilary's supporters to support him now that he is the nominee. But she owes him some homage, not vice versa. he is after all the victor here.

Obama clinches the nomination

You are witnessing history in the making.

The end of significance of the once powerful democractic party AND the rise of a THREE PARTY sytstem
Obama clinches the nomination

Ladies and gentlemen, we do indeed have a historic first!
