McCain is using buzzwords that only the elderly can hear. For example, although I know political history, I had no idea why McCain was comparing Obama to Carter, and McCain's position on Cuba seems time worn. Things like this confirm McCain's age. He should position himself for the future, not seek to remain entrenched in the past.

The general: The generation gap

Just remember that the polls do not consider nor contact cells phones or text messages. So, are they accurate considering the youth vote for Obama? Of course not. Obama will win a landslide in November and the youth will do it for him. As a 64 year old white woman who has worked for over 45 years, I'm excited that the youth will finally activate themselves for a truly change candidate. Obama 08

The general: The generation gap

Most young kids don't know enough about Navy man John McCain and they don't care about what's happening in Iran and other places that McCain will defeat. I was a die-hard Republican all my life until now-- Bush has shown us in every way possible how corrupt the party is. By this I mean, favoring the wealthy, getting us into an unnecessary war under false pretenses, and being so pro-business that the credit, mortgage, healthcare, and energy sectors of our economy are destroying the country. He and his co-horts are traitors and many in my age group have defected to the other side (tho actually, I would have rather had Hillary as President in hopes of her legislating Universal Healthcare). Obama will win by default, at least for our country's sake, I hope so. McCain will continue on Bush's path, don't kid yourself. What an awful thought--- 4 more years of this nonsense--- all for the mighty buck at our citizen's expense! Note: Too bad Clinton is so loyal to her party, it would be great if she ran as an Independent--- talk about changing the scope of American politics!
ps--- saying McCain is old, Alzheimer's, etc... is really stupid-- base your argument on facts, you'll present a better argument. I know just as many young people that are morons as those that are fairly intellegent. Age is not the issue here- its all about who can solve the nation's many problems. I know one thing--it's not a Republican!

The general: The generation gap

There is truly a generational gap when it comes to women and education and the remaining two candidates. A lot of older women, who don't like change and don't trust youth, felt "at home" with Hillary because she was a chance for them to not only vote for a woman but to also vote for someone in their age group. Once Hillary dropped out, they were left with an old white man and a young black man. Those with higher educations (I'm 66-years-old with a Master's in education) have the inclination to research the real differences between Senators McCain and Obama. Those who have not achieved a higher education will resist change (and the age of McCain) and probably stay home this year. These women personally know men in their 70's who really don't have it all together and they can't see someone that old running the country. Senator Obama will never reach the older white women for the trust (age and color) issues but the older black women will move past Hillary and vote for the man who reminds them of their smart-as-a-whip nephew. The younger women like my daughters already know the issues and the stark differences between these candidates and they are both voting for their families, their wallets and their women's rights. That means they cannot vote for McCain
