It's tough being the new kid on the block. Everyone's trying to find your dirty little secret. Obama's getting his a(hem) handed to him because everyone needs to find something to hate.

In the meantime, both McCain AND Hillary have a TON of skeletons in their closet, and Obama refuses to jump on them. To me, that shows class. Yes, he said something about McCain's "doesn't matter" comment, but that was in direct relation to the issues!

McCain slept around on his crippled wife, among other things. Would it be fair to bring that up?

Sometimes, these politicians remind me of the neighbors with the binoculars trying to find the local dish on everyone.

Chuck - this is a big deal. Not Johnson. What Obama is talking about is at the core of what is hurting middle class Americans. This matters. What does McSame want to do - help the rich - just like his mentor, Bush. We can't take this anymore. Sure you and republicans can keep harping about Johnson; sure McSame can keep beating the drum that this shows Obama isn't using good judgement, blah, blah, blah - but the thing is, we all know that McSame has a campaign full of slimy lobbyist. If he is so experienced and uses such good judgement, then why does he have these people in his campaign.

I as again - Where does he go to church? What is something said by someone he has known at any time in his long life that was mean or racist or sexist? Could these be found? Of course. But what is the point? How does that help us?

Please raise the level of the political dialog to important issues and get off the side shows. Get off the rumors. Get off the speculations.

We deserve better. We deserve a good President this time around. We deserve to know about issues not induendo.

It is good to see First Read devoting some space to Obama's comments on issues that are truly of concern to average Americans.

This contrasts with all the media coverage of the non-story relating to Jim Johnson, and which resulted in his resigning from the committee to vett the possible VP choices. What a foolish distraction that was. I know it's difficult, big media folks, but try to keep the focus on issues of true importance in this presidential campaign.

The predatory credit card companies NEED to be an issue.

There is an element of personal responsability associated with credit card debt -- but most Banks / credit cards will just kick their customers while they are down and profit ridiculously off of misfortune - no matter what the reason. And these things take YEARS to clear up...even when the problem is Bank's fault. They need more regulation - some of their practices should be criminal.

Because there are few state regulations to cap interest rates for cash advance and pay day loan establishments, they can charge whatever APR they want to - 400%, 500%... The folks that use these places to make it from one paycheck to another get in over their heads, fast.

They prey on the poor the worst. Credit card companies are not much better, and with the economy the way it is right now, these places are going to be making out like bandits.

How is it that Senator Obama is trying to take advantage of the situation? He DIDN'T go to the event. Had he gone to the event, there were secret service and other security issues that needed to be handled. By not going, he didn't have to have any logistics concerns with the sheriff's office, police department, etc. That makes sense to me.

But, I guess I'm too practical on the matter. Not partisan enough. Oh well, some fools will after all, be foolish.
