Is it age? Is it too much listening to lobbyists? Is it lack of interest? Is it arrogance? Is it lack of intelligence? Did he get elected as a war hero and then ride that image, never learning and growing?

Mistakes are one thing, even less than stellar people in your past, but at some point it's about the candidate's ability. Obama's readiness may still be a question mark to some people but knowing McCain's may be far worse.

The whole point of the surge was to stabilize the country so that the Iraqi govt could possibly come together and build the infrastructure of the country to a point where it could stand on it's own. While some of the violence has quelled there has been absolutely no progress from the Iraqi govt.....which means that the surge did not meet its objective. In english we call that a failure. And no it is not a failure of our brave fighting men and women, it is a failure of the republican administration to match our military's fighting spirit with a surge of diplomacy that possibly could'VE helped, the clearly struggling Iraqi govt. Where I live, I see every day the toll that the quest for "honor and victory" has taken on our country. At Wal-Mart, at the grocery store, at school, at church -I see soldiers, some without limbs, in wheelchairs, on crutches - who are trying valiantly to transition back to a life with their family. This doesn't even address the thousands more around here who have deep psychic wounds. I see young soldiers walking on the side of the highway near my house with heavy packs on their backs, building up their strength and endurance to carry their gear in the desert.

I fully support our troops and so appreciate their service, but it is heartbreaking to see the effects of Iraq on them, day in and day out.

The honorable thing for us to do now would be to LEAVE.

The truth is increased troop strngth has reduced overall violence. Yet, the stated goal of the surge was political stability. It is obvious that goal has not been reached and no plan is in place to do so. The Iraqi's have surplus in oil revenues yet we contiunually provide them revenue. Mr. Maliki is holding hands with Iran's leaders and forging a strong realtionship at our detriment. Yet, if we speak with Iran its is almost treasonable. The solution out of Iraq will need to be political. Yet, Mr. McCain puts little value in diplomatic discussions. If we make permanent our troops we will will not achieve stablity or lasting peace in the middle east, Iraq. Iran and Afganistan. We foolishly entered this war of convenience and spent billions and all it has done is cost us our servicemen's lives, made billions for froeign and U.S. oil executives and contractors, made us a borrower to China, wrecked our economy and standing in the world. I think it's a very tricky thing for obama and supporters to attack McCain on anything military related. McCain is talking about stabilizing Iraq. To pull out completely without leaving any support structure would be a disaster. Lets take a second to review what happens when we abandon an unstable country with little to no infrastructure (thanks to us) and a generation of orphans (thanks to us).
