You help the middle class by keeping corportate and business taxes low so their employers can keep them employed. You help the middle class by keeping inflation low, like that has been done for the last 28 years.

And what does Obama want to do? Give back what amounts to trinkets to some people. Obama is in way over his head. Gimmicks like he proposes may have worked back Illinois, one of the most corrupt, broke, and mismanaged states in the country. But these gimmicks don't work on a larger scale.

No matter who pays the taxes directly to the goverment, the burden of those taxes are always paid by the end consumers. Just like the gas taxes, if we asked the oil companies to pay those taxes, then the cost of the tax ends up in the cost of the product. Currently, the gas tax is part of the cost of the product, but the oil companies collect the tax and pass it on the the goverment. It is suppose to be used for building the interstate highway system, but congress takes that money and allocates the money to pork projects. The biggest tax cut most small businesses (and folks in general) have received during the Bush years is the tax cut you get when you are paying less in taxes because your profits and income, along with your IRA balance and the value of your home, are plummeting.

In terms of disposable income there is no question that the overwhelming majority of Americans, including most of the middle class, is worse off than during the Clinton years. The tiny benefit most of us have derived from the Bush tax cuts don't come close to making up for what we've lost with income dropping, stagnating or not increasing enough to keep up with the skyrocketing costs of basics like health care, education and now pretty much everything because the price of oil, instead of going down to $20 a barrel, as the neocons promised, has ballooned to over $130 because of their policies.

McCain promises more of the same. He now thinks the huge tax breaks for the rich, which clearly haven't improved the economy for the rest of us, should remain and has no plan to make any major economic policy changes that might help the rest of us.

People love the sound of the words "lower taxes" but they should stop and think about what good it does them if the result turns out to be a lousy economy with less disposable income, not more, for all but a few.

I'd MUCH rather be making what our small business was providing us with during the Clinton years, even if we had to pay a slightly higher tax rate, which we wouldn't because we never made over $200 thousand. The subcontractors we no longer need would probably prefer it too. Fat chance of that happening if we elect McSame. Less taxes because of less income isn't my idea of a desirable tax cut.

Where do you guys come off saying you don't think Obama knows anything of economics. It's always "I think he doesn't know anything" or "I have a hunch he's clueless".
How about instead of guessing you do some research. Look at his voting record on economic issues. Look at the way he ran his finances in the primary campaign. Do the same with McCain.
This is the exact reason why there should be more of an emphasis on civics in public school and college. A democracy does not work if the people are uninformed. Before we invaded Iraq 60% of Americans thought that Saddam was behind 9/11. A large number of Americans think that Obama is a muslim. This is because they are too lazy to research the truth. It is much easier to ingest sound bytes and smears and be told what to think than to form your own educated opinion.
So if you "have a hunch" that something is wrong with either candidate I encourage you to use the many resources at your disposal and make sure. Only then do you have the right to complain when you feel the government isn't serving you.

McSame said that bringing the troops home is not important.

My husband is currently on active duty in the military. This just shows you how out of touch this man is. He opposes the bill that would give active duty personnel extra benefits. There is a large number of military families who live on food stamps. I don't hear him talk about that. McSame is living in the past. Kudos and repects for his military record, but he returned home. Over 4,000 soldiers died in Iraq and million more died in previous wars. These soldiers never came home to thier loved ones.

I am also concerned about a lot women issues that McSame does not support especially Roe vs. Wade. I refused to have the government tell me what and what I cannot do with my body. That is what McSame will give women if he wins the election.

I would encourage all military wives and women out there to not vote for this man. Bring the troops home so they can enjoy their families just like McSame is doing with his.

Just on quick thing about McCain comments. I read all the comments, including one from a person that was fighting in Irak (and may go back).

Being from a foreign country, I can tell you that if the US stays longer in Irak, with no timetable for the withdraw, it will keep creating conflict there, and people will hate us more and more. My country was under military regims for decades. If another coutry would have invade the country with the excuse of liberation, freedom and democracy, we would have welcome them. But if they would've stayed, and stayed, I can asure you common people like us, would have get a gun, and started fighting "the invador". It's hard to understand from here, but just think about it for a minute.
So, in order to let that area of the world calm down, we need to get out as soon as possible. Yes, keep a close eye, but get out. They may go back to a dictatorship, or not, but we will need to learn to live with that.
McCain is talking about Iran already, how that could be good. He doesn't want to talk with them, he just want to attack them as soon as they show that they are not doing what he wants.
Is that what you want in the leader of the stronger country of the world?
