The ironic thing is, is that Obama is actually attempting to make good on the promise Bush made back in 2003/2004...that we'd train the Iraqi's and leave in a timely manner. The Iraqi's would have no problems dealing with Obama b/c we have used that rhetoric all along...not backed up by action although. So it's odd how the GOP and the neocons now attack Obama for picking up the ball they dropped. That goes to show McCain and the party he seeks to lead has no bearings. Obama knows that any country must chose and determine it's own destiny. That outside influence, especially through the use of military power and prowess is short term, and in the end will always fail to win the hearts and minds of the people unless they are ready themselves to change the direction of their society and their government. The Iraqi government is a sham and will always be a sham. It does not represent the will of all the people in a fashion where compromise will be accepted by all in the name of peace and stabalization. When the people of Iraq are ready to make the proper compromises and to work together to establish a give-and-take form of government then they will succeed. And until they are ready US forces policing their nation may reduce violence but will never act as a catalyst towards the stablization and peace required for their success. Nothing would be more positive for the U.S. and for the Iraqis then to pull out the U.S. troops. Both sides win. U.S. troops are pulled from harms way and the Iraqis can begin their struggle towards "real" stablaization whether as a democratic society or under a society that yet requires a form of religious and/or dictatorial form of rule. Obama knows this.

If you make more than $2.9 million a year, your taxes go UP under the Obama plan and DOWN under the McCain plan. The first person who benefits from McCain's plan would be lovely wife Cindy who clearly makes more than $2.9 million a year. The Obama plan has more real benefits for what is truly the middle class and although I am in the upper class tax bracket, I will still vote for Senator Obama because of the fairness of his plan versus that of McCain's.

Obama mentioned that he wanted to pull troops out. The point I think everyone is missing is that he wants to make sure it isn't just all leave at once. It sounds to me like there will be a slow process checking everything along the way. If he does start doing this (assuming he is elected), there could be hope that most of the active combat troops and their support groups could be out by the end of his first term. Don't count on it being any earlier than that.
