That's a troubling statement. Because it means one of two things:

1) It says he knew about about the comment, since if he forgot *when* it happened he'd have to actually know that it happened, and is now lying.

or

2) Someone recently told him about it... and he's already forgotten it! Which is probably even worse that he can't remember something that was told to him just days ago.

Re drilling:
Domestic drilling will **not** significiantly alter pump prices. Ask those darn economists!!!! ...And please point out to the public that domestic drilling still sells on WORLD market. So there will be no special discounts given to the US market. (Why will they sell it to us for $50 a barrel, when they can sell it to China or Europe for $140/barrel?? They won't...but that's the hidden assumption that many are making.)

Re gas prices:
The sad reality is that oil companies have discovered that the market will be bear very high prices. Prices will never go down significantly now that they know how bad they can really fleece us.

First, I have been so stunned by the passing of Tim Russert, I haven't managed to stay plugged in to First Read, which is normally my background all day. My thoughts and prayers for his friends and family. I have been reading the transcripts and following Meet the Press since Kerry and Edwards ran - so he is the reason I became more politically astute (if you'd call it that). Very big loss during a very big year. I see David Gregory or Chuck Todd in the spot, personally.
