They voted UNCOMITTED when Hillary's name was on the ballot. And there were also about 30,000 write-ins. If they didn't vote for her when her name was right there, who do you think they were voting for??? Papa Smurf? Additionally, it was clearly known that even if full voting rights were given to Michigan and Florida (though they broke the rules) and Obama was not given uncommitted, he still would have been ahead in the delegate count. That's how well he was doing! You can go ahead and vote for McCain whose policies and plans are in direct contrast with Hillary Clinton's and the rest of the Democratic party.

Why would John McCain care about education? He graduated at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy, plus if people are educated then they can't fall for the good ole republican play on words and tricks they use to get the UNeducated vote. This is what republicans count on are those people that say the heck with education.. I believe everything that the local news and major news networks tell me.. Uneducated people don't have the mindset to go and research things to make sure they are valid..

Case and point I have people in my family that are well into their 60's and 70's and they are EXTREMELY uneducated and they are so resistant to change or anything new because they are so ignorant to things and ignorance breeds fear and the ability to be manipulated.

Now you see why the fear mongering tactics of the time when John McCain came along work.. Younger more educated people will do research.. We are in an internet based society so you see Mr. McCain we can research and google your a$$.. we don't have to take your word because you are a white haired politician that has been in washington your whole life..

And by the way during the Clinton administration, there was peace and prosperity...not a 2 term adminstration full of an unnecessary war..

Four years separate the two of them, yet Ted Kennedy is and always has been so much more progessive than John McCain could ever be.

The Republican Party is going to have to get used to it - we are in the 21st Century. We are a diverse country - economically and socially. It's the way it was always supposed to be.

This is not going to be a country geared toward just the well to do any longer.

I'm glad that someone (Sen. Obama) who's had the experience of trying to pay back student loans is making this a national issue. I have a sis who just finished med school not too long ago. She basically has so much debt that if you wrote out the figure you'd think she'd gotten a 30 year mortgage. It's absolutely terrible!

There are no more good jobs for just high school graduates. You can't support yourself, let alone a family on $8 -9.00 per hour. You need at least community college to get up to $13-14 per hour. Bo's plan makes community college essentially free for all students. This is absolutely vital to maintaining a middle class. Actually, it's minimal. Much more is needed. Getting the banks out of the student loan business makes sense. Thy can make their money in many other ways than saddling kids with outrageous debts just to get educated. I have friends who are teachers (salary:$35,000) who have $54,000 in student loan debt. This is the first time in history that you find this. Obama's ideas make sense and are long overdue.

I'm more on McCain's side with this one. I don't think colleges should be nationalized, nor subsidized.

In fact, its the subsidies (federal, state, and alums) that I believe created the problem.

The basic problem is that colleges have had no incentive to control costs. They keep spending more and more, and then pass off those costs to their customers. Inflation has run somewhere between 2 and 3 percent for decades. College tuition and fees have increased about 7 percent a year.

This isn't sustainable. At that rate, the cost doubles about every 10 years or so. If they continue to avoid facing reality and controlling themselves, 10 years from now it will cost twice what it does today.

Then hardly anyone could go. Pricing yourself out of business isn't good business. I say let them fail. Someone will come along with a better deal.

Some colleges will figure out how to provide an affordable education, either through on-line services or some other no-frills approach. And these colleges will thrive, while the ones who continue on their reckless march off the cliff will only squash themselves at the bottom of that fall.

Let the market work, and it will. Don't make taxpayers reward colleges for their ongoing arrogance and stupidity.

How do we make "college" affordable? By making public universities affordable and among the best in the nation. If Harvard, as a private institution, wants to charge exorbitant tuition rates, taxpayers should not be footing the bill to send students there. When public schools attract the teachers necessary to make those institutions great, then private schools will have to lower their tuition rates to attract the same levels of students. If private universities price themselves out of the market, their applicant pool will decline, but if the government pledges to help students pay those exorbitant tuition bills, there is no incentive for the schools to decrease tuition.

I'm a teacher, and I have read Obama'a education plan. It is more in depth, more accurate, and more on target than any plan in the history of the U.S. to help the Education of United States Children.

Furthermore, his plan does not privatize Education like the republicans' plan, which will serve to educate the rich and not the poor (like taxes.)

Anyone who believes he is out of touch need only to read his excellent educational plan on his web site.

You may also read his speech on education.

Then when you are done reading, you will realize that this man must be our next President because our students, and our future cannot afford someone named McCain who could simply care less about eductation.

When you are steeped in Republican agenda and beliefs all your life the common-good issues are nearly always pushed aside to further worthy-individual goods. Education is seen as a private and individual good for most Republicans. They also don't want to "waste" their money on others who are not as worthy as they or not as hard working as they see themselves. They long ago lost the concept that without educating all young people well, the country and the common good of the nation will suffer. Thus it goes for parks for everyone, basic health benefits for everyone. We are the only industrialized nation that still has a party so fixed on the thinking of the industrial revolution. Rich is good and demonstrates hard work and personal worth. Poor is bad and demonstrates lazyness and lack of personal worth. Rich deserves to be given more because they use it well. That is the heart of their taxing as well. There is ample evidence that the rich do not use it well for the country. Where do they invest? Here in the USA. Give me a break!

I disagree with Senator McCain on his economic policies, especially since his cost $3.7 trillion in tax breaks, nmostly to people who can't make so much money that they aren't going to be wasting time on this msg board
I diagree with Senator McCain on his health care plans, giving a tax break and then you buy your own mnedical plan. That's gtreat until you get a bad diagnosis and the medical plan puts a pre-ex on that condition, or requires a longer period of time before benefits are paid out on certain conditions, or the medical plan, because there is no administrator for the insurance plan to be beholden to just refuses to cover the condition. Yep, working in this field for the last 15 years, I've seen it all.
I disagree with Senator McCain on the types of judges he'll appoint like Altio, Roberts, Scalia and Thomas. He's already said he'd look for judges like these, the same who want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Just last year in South Carolina, McCain saidRoe v. Wade should be overturned.

So, there are very pointed reasons, not emotions, as to why I want Senator Obama to win this coming election.

Clinton supporters, the true ones, not the Repubs who mask themselves as if they are HRC supporters, understand that her positions are 90% IDENTICAL to Obama. McCain is about 90% opposite.
So, please don't say he's too liberal, because she would've then been the same.
Please don't say he stole it, more people boted for him than she. Certainly as it pertains to delegates which is how this year primary (and the last 50 years+) have determined the mnominee. By the way, it's the same process that President Clinton used to get his nomination.

It's time people to step up. Hope you will.

You Obama supporters just don’t get it. Simple said, us former democrats and independents neither like, nor trust Obama. He is ill qualified to lead this nation. For the first time in many years the party had a strong, intelligent, determined, well qualified candidate in Clinton; however the DNC failed miserably in their duty as superdelgates to recognize this. As a result, the party will hear from us loud and clear in November with either a vote for McCain, or a pass all together. (I personally think it should be a vote for McCain because that will result in a net loss of two for Obama).
It’s not that we did not like the message----we did not like the messenger. He is a false prophet, who stole Clinton ideas and solutions and ran his campaign on the chant of Yes We Can. That’s not leadership; his was a perfect example of follow the leader.
Many of us carried the water for the DNC for many years; however we are not allowed to drink from the same well??? We have had enough. These party elitist should have pledged their allegiants based on fact---not fiction. They did not have the courage to realize this and the party will pay a price for their stupidity. They lack the vision and the wisdom to do anything other than pat your own pockets and run from the truth---for shame.
I do not speak for all Hillary supporters, though I do hope I speak for many of them when I say to the party…. you have failed us---you have failed Hillary, and you will once again fail to win the White House. I watched and listen to Hillary ask her supporters to now throw their support to Obama, for the sake of the party. Hillary is a loyalist to the party---why, I’m not sure.
I respect Hillary tremendously, however the party and the process did her wrong and this cannot stand, YES THIS WILL BE A PROTEST VOTE, a vote against the DNC-you need to clean your act up and remember your core constituents, because “Yes We Can” make a difference.
I am not afraid of McCain, he does not represent 4 more years of Bush---no one could possibly be that stupid. I believe him to be a man of honor who will do his best for this country and its people that he cares deeply for, and for that reason I will place my hope with him.
And one more thing, where in the hell does Obama
plan to get all this money to pay for all his
promises?? The war in Iraq won't end in 2 months

As an educator, I like the fact that Obama has ideas about improving educational opportunities for people of all ages, from preschoolers to college-aged students. Investing in education is the best investment for our future--better jobs, better economy, etc.

If you don't have businesses, though, you won't need those college grads. And, who says the government owes people a college education? Obama touts his plan that you'll get $4000 per year credit for volunteering. He's never made his plan clear, though (imagine that, as if he ever did) whether you have to earn it ahead of time or take a time and have it dismissed after you do the time. Also, why is Mr Obama promoting a new volunteer program. We already have Americorps while has not been overly successful because people are too lazy to volunteer. They'd rather take out huge student loans and then complain later about having to pay them. But, hey, that won't be a problem. Whine loud enough with Obambi and he'll promise to pay it for you.
