I laughed out loud this a.m. listening to Obama surrogate Susan Rice. When asked if Obama were captured, would Obama agree he has rights to be tried in US courts? Her response was that if they had the opportunity they would KILL Obama. But, if they only captured him, then he had to had full habeas corpus rights. Now, let me see, killing somebody without a trial is okay, no violation of rights. But, damn, if we can't kill you, then we have to respect your rights. Do you Obamatons see the ridiculousness of your Messiah's position?

This is my first foray into the political process. My daughter's enthusiasm for Senator Obama's campaign turned out to be contagious, and I found myself refreshing the screen every 3 minutes the night of the Ohio, and Texas primaries, praying for an Obama upset.

I can't remember now, but somehow I stumbled onto this blog, for better, or for worse, (I have no doubt Nobama would say for worse, as I have been taken to task a time or two by him/her).

As a result, I have made many new friends, including, the First Read Family; Chuck, his team of reporters, as well as, many of my fellow posters.

In addition, some of the pundits such as Abrams, and Olbermann have become important to me too, but non more than Timmy.

I came to trust Mr. Russert almost overnight.

If his team make a commitment to always consider, 'what would Tim do'?; in any given situation that has to do with the caliber of journalist they hope, and strive to be, we will all be fine. Timmy's legacy will have done it's job.

I think that is a nice gesture, but I'm a little miffed. I enjoyed watching Tim Russert political interviews and commentaries as much as anyone, but we are treating him as though he did something great for America, like find a cure for polio or negoitiated the release of captives held by terrorists. Russert publicly was a good political journalist.

There are alot more people active in their communities locally and nationally, that deserve just as much if not more attention for their works on earth.
