~ not so great for the workers who have seen their good paying jobs shipped out of the country.

~ not so great for the environment.

~ not so great for the consumer, sure prices went down, but so did quality.

It's time to come together for our country. Bush/Cheney have created a fascist state with corporations running our government. The Republican Congress has "borrowed and spent" us into an irresponsibly huge deficit, with the paper being held by the Chinese and some oil rich states in the Middle East, and McCain is willing to borrow even more.

It's time to join together to work towards electing a Democratic President with a workable Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate.

This time do something smart and vote for your wallet, vote for the economy, vote for the environment, vote for jobs, vote for America!

Vote for the smartest candidate in the race, a real leader (and no that's not McCain, who graduated at the very bottom of his class -- not by a long shot)

Vote Democratic 2008 -- don't let the corporations and their Republican stooges win again.

Real Americans will never forget it was the repugnant ones who pushed all those good paying manufacturing jobs to China and India and tried to replace them with crappy low paying retail jobs with no benefits. So seeing Obama won't provide us a trade plan, lets speculate on what he might do if he manages to fool enough people to vote for him this fall. Lets see, he could raise tariffs on imports thus making them much more expensive to Americans and make domestic products cheaper. At the same time, the tariffs will be a nice revenue stream to the government because they are kind of like a tax. Then Americans will buy more American products because they will be cheaper. And that should bring back jobs to the US, right? Wow, a win-win-win.

Well, maybe not, because other countries will then put tariffs on our exports going to them. Ohhh, that's not good because now our products cost other countries more to purchase. So what we'll end up with is expensive products here in the US, domestic layoffs because foreign countries no longer buy our expensive products, and world wide inflation. That sounds like a lose-lose-lose.

And that's what Obama is, a loser.

Slick Willie passed NAFTA. W Bush ran with it and is responsible for millions of Americans out of work and scrambling to pay their bills. NAFTA has not only hurt the big factories, but it has hurt many skilled trades- People who went to college to find a better job. Not to mention all the jobs that were subcontractors for the big factories. Crime is up, Unemployment is up and there is no end in sight.

Obama/s comments this week about bringing back american auto jobs is pure BS. He try's to idntify all american workers with the auto workers loss of jobs and tries to pin it on NAFTA. Here's the big lie, that the UAW cares about american workers. The UAW only cares about unionized american workers particularly those that are UAW members. NAFTA, that was enacted under Bill Clinton not "W" has been a benefit for the great majority of americans. Has it been beneficial for the UAW ? No. As a matter of fact it has done a lot to kill this dinosaur. Obama dances to the UAW tune( and other unions) because unions are his biggest contributors and without who's support Obama or any other Democrat could get elected....ever. Unions represent 12.7 % of all american workers. In the private sector it is only 7.5%. Unions are not main stream america. Viewed realistically they are the enemies of the american consumer and taxpayers because all they add is cost. Prime example is the best cars made in america are made by non-union workers. Obama is willing to trash american credibility and the economic security of 87.5 % of american workers for the support of the unionized 12.7% of workers. Some change?

If the Agreements made sure that a company that moved their production to Mexico that they would have to pay the workers there the exact same wages, for the positions, that they paid in the US, and also had to comply with US environmental Regulations as well as having to pay taxes on all money made in the US, AND paid the local Country's taxes. The same should go for trade with China too!! If American Companies were able to sell their products, unhindered, to foreign nations as well then I think that that would be a VERY FAIR set of Trade regulations. But I can guarantee you that this would be the farthest from the minds of the Republicans and people with Big Money worldwide as you could get.

Engler, and until the Big Three start making advanced engineering of efficient vehicles a priority, automotive jobs are going nowhere but out the door. If you want Canadians (or Americans, for that matter) to buy your product, then make a product worth buying, because SUVs aren't cutting it anymore.
