McCain is right. NAFTA and other trade agreements made by Clinton and Bush have been very good for the country. It's very difficult to get that point across though when you have a populist like Obama essentially telling lies to the people that want to hear them. Even if Obama becomes President though, I doubt even he believes much of his own rhetoric. Even Obama knows, at least privately, that protectionism has never worked and would be a terrible idea. Obama's pandering though to the mindless is both wrong and dangerous.

Obama babbles on endlessly about 'renegotiating' our trade agreements. But, just like with everything else, he never provides the details. Just what terms does he want to negotiate? What if the other countries don't want to renegotiate? What if other countries want to better the terms they have, while making the terms the US has worse?

Obama supporters blindly follow their leader without ever thinking of the consequences. These treaties were made with a lot of hard work by a lot people in a lot of countries. And now Obama is going to unilaterally make them null and void? The chaos that creates in the markets would make 1929 look tame.

Canada is not voting in this election, but we are not so stupid as McCain thinks. We, the Canadian people, see right through the double-talk - this was a sad attempt to make an statement about internal politics. I guess he's taking another lesson from his mentor's playbook.

I heard part of his speech - and this is such a joke - he was lecturing those in the audience about the importance of respecting treaties, trade agreements, and articles of trade law. He said that only by respecting those agreements and working within the framework of international laws could the US and Canada prosper.

Hilarious - here's a man that publically condemns your own Constitution - "habeus corpus bad" - and yet lectures his country's largest trade partner (aside from China) over respecting the rule of law.

Let me tell you - Canadians are laughing their pants off today at this joke of a politician.

Any trade agreement should be reviewed to be assured to achieve its goal for the U.S. It is clear some provisions have worked and some have not. To claim a unilateral review is odd. Obama has only stated he will review its provisions with Canada and Mexico to insure it meets U.S economic interests. Of course McCain has never changed his positions( offshore drilling, torture, tax cuts, take public campaign financing then do not then do again etc,etc,etc). One thing is clear Ms. Fiorina, his key economic advisor, has no problem with outsourcing U.S. companies and jobs for a bigger profit. So with this in mind I am sure her views and McCain's are all is well in our trade agreements as long as business can maximize profits even if it hurts the U.S. economy.
