Although I know the polls change with the wind, this is certainly encouraging.

I predict that once the people get an opportunity to compare and contrast the candidates, side-by-side, that Obama will take the lead on terrorism, immigration, and Iraq. Furthermore, his lead on the other issues will continue to increase.

I also predict that John McCain's best poll numbers are in the past, and he will flip-flop his way to November, at which point he'll be beaten, bruised, exposed, and one year older.

Can't wait until the debates when the differences REALLY come to light.

Can't wait to see McBush try and explain how his healthcare plan, which will actually make it HARDER for people to get coverage, is better than Obama. Funny how that was such a HUGE issue in the primaries and now we haven't heard anything about healthcare.

Those numbers are unbelievable. Obama beats McSame by double digits on health care, the economy and energy. The three most important domestic issues. I love that Mr. Vet is tied with Obama on Iraq. I love way more that Obama trumps McCain on Moral Values.

Its time to put Obama's beautiful family in the white house. Then and only then will we finally have a president who has family values.

I doubt you can put McCain in the family Values category.

Leaving your car accident injured wife for a younger rich new wife doesn't give me the sense McCain shares my family values.

Oh my! If a Democrat can lead in taxes and also be tied on the Iraq issue we are looking at a Reagan-esque blowout. CW will usually give the Democrat the edge on health care, energy, and because of Bush's failure--the economy as well but, if McCain (who has put all of his chips on Iraq) isn't seen as having a commanding advantage on his supposed flagship issue of war and Iraq then he is up to his neck in trouble. Another good number that I notice here is that Obama is leading in moral values. Hopefully this means that not as many people believe that he is some kind of evil, Manchurian boogeyman. Most major elections can be won on sheer enthusiasm and turnout alone. From these numbers, it appears that GOP enthusiasm is awful and "terrorism" doesn't have the same kick as it did back in the 2004 election. Get prepared for the pro-McCain 527s to launch to most despicable ads ever aired. McCain has no other path to nomination.

McCain's poll numbers have most likely peaked. His ex-maverick reputation has allowed him (at the beginning) to keep somewhat close to Obama. But that will begin to decline. This decline for McCain will also be impacted by future gaffes and blunders that appears to be ingrained within the McCain Campaign.

Minus some major catastrophe Obama's numbers will go up even further following a few debates. This is certainly an election where Obama has control of his destiny. If Obama's campaign is managed as well as it was in the primary against Hillary, McCain does not stand a chance.

Six points will grow to 16 points by November. McOld will carry...maybe 12 States. One area that's not too "sexy" is the organizational structures of the two campaigns. It isn't that Obama is perfect, its that I really don't like McCain's policy proposals. Gas tax holiday? That's been discredited by economists. Lift off-shore drilling ban - to (maybe) save three cents in 2027? Another gimmick. Disagree with the Supreme Court decision to allow habeus corpus to prisoners of war? Er, what kind of President has so little confidence in our system he won't reveal the names of those the state has detained? What are we electing, the President of Russia? I haven't seen anything from McCain to inspire my confidence, except his service in Vietnam, but the Republicans taught us last time not to take military service into account when choosing a President.

What I find so amusing is that the ONLY Republican that had a chance to win this election was McCain (the anit-republican)and to win his party's nomination he was forced to pander to the right, thus making himself unelectable.

As an Independent, I have always admired McCain's willingness to tick off his party. That seems to be gone now. So sad.

There's no need to bad mouth or come up with "witty" name variations. Agree with him or not, he is a good man that has served his county well, but chose political expediency at the worst possible time.

Just pointing out how naive and shallow the Obama supporters are. This "YES WE CAN" mantra of theirs is nice, if your cheering at a college football game. Working out the problems in this country is going to be difficult and is going to take real leadership that has some real answers. McCain will need a lot help to be able to achieve that goal, but I think he's at least humble enough to ask for help. Obama is an arrogant pol from corrupt Chicago politics. What makes Barack dangerous is that he thinks he has all the answers, when in fact he doesn't even understand the questions.

The tie on Iraq and McCain's numbers on terrorism are only such as McCain is seen by many in these polls as a war hero / prisoner of war in Nam. Their comments or vote in these polls placing McCain in a tie with Obama on Iraq and giving McCain the nod on terrorism has nothing to do with Iraq or terrorism. It is simply people's acknowledgement that McCain had a distiguished military career. If McCain had had no such background (perceived war hero) his numbers on the particulars of Iraq and terrorism would be far below those of Obnama. This is somewhat understandable (giving McCain his due for his time in the service), but people need to understand McCain has no more experience as a leader in foreign policy then Obama. If people were to give McCain his due for his service to the country but learn to separate that service from the particulars of Iraq and terrorism McCain's numbers on both these issues would go down. nd
