I agree with not paying off her debt. The woman went in the the hole on her own. She knew there was no way to win and yet kept spending money she didn't have. Um, most citizens would be in jail right now if we did what she has done. Let her eat her contributions and then have her pay off the people she owes. Tough luck Hillary, you should have been smarter about how to spend money and also noticed the writing on the wall a lot sooner. It's not our fault you were so wrapped up in your own self worth that you couldn't see what was happening around you. Obama is systematically reorganizing the DNC and the party in general. He has always said that this would be done. Protecting the financial health of Sen. Clinton is just one part of that process.

The Campaign Finance non-issue continues to befuddle the Republicans and some pundits. What they cannot seem to grasp is that the American people who support Obama have in effect, asked him to opt out of the broken Federal Campaign Finance system. We Obamacrats are deadly serious about getting our Federal Government under control and working for the people once again. If this 'take no prisoners' attitude about making sure that process is begun this election cycle is troubling to the inside the beltway crowd, and the CW spouting MSM; so be it! The pundits are going to have very little to say about things this cycle. Just report the FACTS folks; the sleeping giant of the organized masses will handle their own analysis.

It would be nice if the press let people know that Obama will not/cannot give their donations to Clinton. It has been upsetting to many loyal Obama supporters, the thought that their donations might go to pay Clinton's debt. AND IT'S THE MSM's FAULT. He can do events for her & ask his supporters to also donate to her, but that's about it.

The media needs to give the public financing thing a rest. It won't sway any voters to beat it like a dead horse. It was a smart move becuase he stands to gain more funding for the campaign and he would be suspect in judgement if he made the safe decision to take public financing.

Ask anyone this choice: "You can have $85 or $500 to bid on something that is extremely important to you. The $85 is possibly not enough to win that something because your competition has other ways to get money, but there is a risk that you choose the $500, you might not get all $500. You are, however, pretty well guaranteed to get at least $100 which should be enough to win what you want. Which option would you choose?"

If that is too complicated for you Republicans, try this: "Would you rather have $85 or $500?"

The way I see it, Ruth wants to have it both ways. She suggests what Obama can do to make his own brand of public financing look "different" and obviously, no one is going to listen to her. Obama is doing his thing and the facts speak for themselves: he IS different in his entire approach to fund raising. On the flip-side, I can imagine her article had Obama been bone-headed enough to opt into public financing and limit himself to the $85 million that McCain will be stuck with. It must be totally embarrassing for Hillary to have to kiss this guys butt after the filthy campaign he ran against her. Polls are polls, and focus groups are focus groups, but I'm one Hillary supporter that will think, once, twice, three times before voting for Obama. From a political standpoint, McCain is closer to what Hillary believes then where Obama is on the political spectrum. Both Hillary and McCain love their county in a way that they would protect it at all costs. You don't get that kind of love from Obama, he looks like another slick Chicago politician that will sell the country down the river in the name of 'Peace in Our Time'. Obama seems too clever by half in that he'd have a Green American, which would also include 15% unemployment and $10/gal gas. Every day that goes by it looks more and more like I'll vote for McCain.

I'm not sure what the protocol of helping a former opponent w/financing woes has been in the past, but if it is to help-out so be it! My problem with Clinton is that for at least a month she continued a campaign that she knew could only succeed if the SDs gave her the nom., therefore, she was irresponsibly spending money that she knew she did not have, her decision, her responsibility.

This is however an eccellent example of why Obama will make a better President, he has out organized and financed Clinton, two great abilities a President should have, knowing how to pick the right people for a job and money management skills.

Passing the plate for Hillary is a bit of a dilemma. I feel she totally mismanaged her campaign and her egotistical drive at the end only put her further behind...sort of like a gambler's addiction. people are so naive as to how the clinton political machine works. have you ever thought why she did not bow out soon enough when everybody knew that it's time to wrap things up? she didn't care about being in the hole because of exactly this, that the winning candidate will help the losing candidate carry the burden of paying off the loser's (pun intended) debts! people, the clintons have been around far too long and have run their well-oiled machines smoothly. well, their machinations are now slowing down and soon will be relegated to the side. hillary will not, if she decides to run again, win in 2012, nor in 2016.

having said these, however, it's time to unify the party. if this takes $10 million or so to "buy" her support, then so be it.

Hmmm...if (us) Obama donors pays off Hillary's debt, these are the conditions of the payoff.

1: Hillary will campaign as needed and whole-heartedly for Obama, even if this means her "eating crow" on some her negative comments about Obama being naive, inexperienced and not qualified.

2: Hillary will not accept the V.P. offer. It would be only offered for public perception sake. She should be nice and decline sighting her own belief that Obama is stronger without her.

3: Bill clinton will campaign as needed and whole-heartedly for Obama.

That is a small price to pay, especially if Obama raises anywhere between $5 million to $15 million to help Hillary pay off her debts and loans.
