The last post was closed regarding McCain and swiftboaters. I am posting my comment here. No where in clark's comments did he disrespect McCain. He said that he honored McCain's service and considered him to be a hero. However, McCain served in the military and did not lead troops. Serving in the military does not equate experience in foreign policy. If serving in the military is required to be president, Kerry would have won the last election. Second, people are outraged by clark's comments to McCain. Where was the outrage when Kerry was swiftboated and his military record was called to question? The hypcoricy amazes me.

Let the defining continue...

Nashville fan,

It is relevant because the GOP are trying to define Obama as a socialist whose mentality is to tax the rich, and give their money to welfare recipients. McCain i am sure never had a paid position that was equivalent or less than $12,000 dollars a year that Obama made as a community organizer.. I point out the equivalent of $12,000 because back in McCain's day you may have been considered rich if you made $12,000 a year.. My uncle served in Vietnam and he made a whopping $300 a month.. Let me repeat that he made $300 a month which roughly equates to $3,600 a year..

That was in the 1970's

Let the defining continue...

Talk about a double standard. Yesterday, on Face the Nation, Joe Lieberman said the following:

Lieberman Predicts Attack Will Come Early In Next Presidency

LIEBERMAN: We need a president who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief on day one. Senator McCain is - incidentally, Senator Clinton said that over and over again and she was right. She was ready to be president on day one. Why? Because our enemies will test the new president early. Remember that the truck bombing at the World Trade Center happened in the first year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 happened in the first year of the Bush administration. John McCain is ready to take the reins on January 20, 2009. He doesn't need any training.

Where is the media coverage of this outrageous fear mongering attack by a prominent and vocal McCain surrogate.

Let the defining continue...

LOL, Miserly Stark, everyone I know went to ivy league schools & took a $20k job. Its not a binary yes-no thing.

One subtle difference is that McCain is known as a war hero, not to mention a guy who has a lot of national sympathy for being tortured as a POW. Kerry was known as a senator and before that a veteran-turned-war protester.

In retrospect, one could make an argument that Vietnam wasn't a Kerry strength. The war protester part gave a lot of ammunition to detractors. His campaign is criticized in some corners for trying to make it a campaign strength when it was built on a politically shakey foundation. Remember prior to the convention, it wasn't generally known that he would be defining himself to the American public as a veteran - that his veteran status would be so central to his definition of himself. People thought he would define himself as an experienced senator and someone with more polish than Bush.

With McCain, its different. Its not some surprise definition out of the blue.

Obama going after McCain on national security issues is Rovian - because McCain does have an achilles heel or two in that mix. Obama (in this case, a politically dumb supporter) going after McCain directly over whether his Vietnam experiences qualify him to be president just turns the conversation toward those Vietnam experiences - and potentially could be construed by some as an attack for an episode most find as cause for some sympathy.

Let the defining continue...

Keep up the great ads Obama. This is just the kid of stuff that will work with an older generation of voters.

Let the defining continue...

The word "work" (or some variation) is heard five times; the word "job" is heard three times. "

******************************************************

Here we go again !

WAS there an internal memo on MSNBC to be condensending to Obama.

WE DO NOT MIND CRITISISM OF OBAMA !
