On another note, it appears to have been a very smart move by the Obama camp to have passed on public financing. Just in the past few days, groups have been assembling to attempt to take the good senator down.

I wish people will stop saying that Wisconsin is a battleground State. If the RNC wants to waste its money here on McCain then I'm all for it because that's money they can't spend in Colorado and Virginia. But it's not IF Obama will win, but by how much. Chicago is only 80 miles South of Milwaukee so he's as popular here as Russ Feingold.

An important (yet inside-baseball) note: While the RNC is paying for this advertising blitz, it is coming from its independent expenditure unit. What that means is that the RNC has nothing to do with the ad's message or content; a vendor -- in this case, Brad Todd -- is responsible for that.

This, in fact, was an issue in that infamous RNC "Call me" TV ad against Harold Ford Jr. in Tennessee in 2006. It was an ad paid for by the RNC, but they were able to deny --legitimately -- that they had anything to do with the message. Both political parties utilize independent expenditure TV ads.

Does this sound like a bunch of BS to anyone else? If both political parties use these tactics before or now, I see this as shameful cowardice, for both parties. What? PAY for the AD, but they don't have to own up to the ad. So this makes it okay? We as voters will say, oh, well since it didn't really come from the RNC or the DNC we won't hold them responsible. Puleeeze. We know where this crap is going. The poll numbers are such that the good ol' Rupugs need to send out the attack dogs. The RNC can release any ads they want regarding the differences between McCain and Obama on energy policies. If they are truthful, Obama comes out looking like the winner. If the ads distort the truth about Obama's policies, voters will be turned off. We're tired of negative smears and fear tactics!

People, please remember:

Obama wants to develop alternative energies to get us off of our dependence on expensive, polluting fossil fuels.

Obama is against off-shore drilling that will hurt the environment and not help with gas prices.

McCain and Bush pushed for off-shore drilling; a few days later, McCain acknowleges that it won't help with our current energy problems and that the idea was proposed for the "psychological impact" (see http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/06/24/1163504.aspx). Unfortunately, there is no quick fix, especially as long as corporations are allowed to speculate and oil companies are not encouraged to drill on leases they already own or to build new refineries.

I want a leader who really researches ideas before he proposes them. I want a leader who cares about the impact of his ideas/solutions on the environment, the economy, and on our pocket books--not on our "feelings". That's Barack Obama!
