Tomorrow will be a bit of a new experiment at culturethreads: A Day as A Typical American. I will go an entire day without looking at a political news website. I'll just checking my email, and watch the evening news and glance at the front pages of newspapers. I'll also listen to what co-workers at talking about, and glance at the fronts of the newspapers as I walk by them.

I will then write a report for Friday morning that gives my impressions of that day's political events from tht perspective. This may give valuable insight into what swing voters are seeing, as opposed to we would digest oodles on online newsbit every hour.

Yeah, he wants to increase the size of the military. BUT he wants to admittedly cut TENS OF BILLIONS from missile defense research and Future Combat Systems that will keep our armed forces safer. AND he's going to forbid weaponizing space and REFUSES to accept nuclear deterrence as a feasible defense strategy.

SO while the rest of the world advances its missile programs and finds new ways to utlize space strategically, we're going to elect this man to hold us back and let them catch up.

If obama wins they will tell you that it's all about affirmative action. Some will actually walk with fear, with expectations of something to happen, taht quet anxiety like we all had on the eve of the year 2000..........Remember that?

And now look at us, it actually happened, the dark times came due to the Bush/MCCain's policies and they want to tell us that no- Obama is the one that will bring those times, the worst king of them. After all, how can black person be so successful and powerful enough? How can that be, unless he really is the Anti-Christ?

All too long Americans have sat by and listened to a presidential candiddate tell us what they would do for us instead of inspiring for us to do for ourselves. It is a well known fact that Americans are the most charitable goup in the world. We give more to charities than any other nation in the world. Senator Obama differs from McCain in that he recognizes that public service in the peace corps or other types of service are just as honorable as serving in the military. Increasing the size of our government and spending more are exactly what our country does not need. Oh, and he wasn't too cerebral/intellectual. Nothing wrong with being smart, but it does make it difficult for the average people to relate to what he says. And that is somewhat why McCain is attempting to paint him as a flip-flopper, because he offers very nuanced and I would argue often correct/best answers, but politically unclear/more-difficult-to-follow answers. Here in this speech, he was more direct and to-the-point than he sometimes is.

It's really interesting to watch and listen as people respond or react to Obama's message. What I'm noticing is pretty simple. People who like where we are as a nation are afraid, angry, and hateful of Obama. That's how to bring up a new generation of people who LOATHE community service--requiring it for school graduation. REAL community service comes from a genuine desire to create positive change, a genuine love for one's community and desire to improve it. It is definitely good to support community service organizations and volunteerism, but mandatory community service is misguided.

That said, Obama is the least of four evils, the others being McCain, Nader, and Barr.

Now this is what makes Obama a leader. His vision and desire to improve America and challenge us. We have to move forward or we will most certainly be left behind. Most people can't even name the five first ladies, does anyone think they will remember these current candidates wives?

Someone said it "is" great Obama wants us involved, yet what does involved mean? The greatest thing a person can do appears to be of service to someone else, why would anyone need a Politician to explain this? Who cares if he wants you to be involved, why should his opinion even matter?

If he wants to be of service to this backwards country, he would start by shrinking government, decriminalizing all drugs or any behavior that does not harm somebody else. That would be a service to the public.

Also, they would implement an alcohol based fuel solution ala Brazil and increase market competition with a revitalization of the economy with a new energy policy based upon local DIY farmers.

Hope will do absolutely nothing in getting these two very important actions done. Hope does nothing to create action, action wills itself into existence. The public needs to know that they do not need permission to bring about these changes, No Obama, no McCain would even matter, if you want to serve your country then help us bring about an alcohol revolution and a decriminalized drug "free market".

Also, forget about paper currency, that only leads to economic instability, if we peg to gold we have something in which people can make a measurement of value. No more theories, no more scare mongering, we lasted for centuries on gold, wake up and figure out problems are in our heads and "fashionable" big brother imposed as democracy as well as censorship of the media. These are the ideas the mainstream media have covered their eyes and ears over. Pretty simple solutions as any good theory needs to be. These ideas put into actions can change more than any politician could ever dream of changing, why wait for permission, why ask for your freedom, they claim to help but actually propose to disable people and enable even greater amounts of disability. The persecution has to end, there are no ordinary ideas or people.
