Is the press really doing their job.

No wonder they were duped into war by George Bush.

Anybody who has been following Obama since this thing started will know that he was always a centrist.
Just because the WSJ falsely labelled him the most liberal senator, with many conservatives actually believing it without actually finding out if it's true does not make it so.

The shock being displayed by the condensending Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough is amazing to me.

Some news anchors like Monica Novotny and Contessa Brewer are too ditzy to discuss politics.. they should just let others do it. It's pathetic.

So Chuck Todd and Co. ... please be fair and objective. Yesterday morning you sounded like Pat Buchanan .. very condensending towards Obama ...
Remember, we do not mind some critisism of Obama, just do not talk about him like he's less of a man.

A balanced budget in 4 years is unlikely with either candidate. Most of the spending is mandated, and cannot be changed, especially under a Democratic congress. SS and Medicare payments, plus farm subsidies and school spending, will kill any chance of a balanced budget. Raising taxes won't work, it will kill incentives for people to work harder.

I don't think Senator Webb was dissing Senator Obama at all by removing himself from consideration. The vetting team needs to know whom to vet.

I like Joe Biden for his willingness to be direct and assertive in his responses to the inane McCain attacks. If he can keep in control and not wander too far.

But I also like Claire McCaskell. Her warmth belies her ability to bring the attack directly to McCain and his VP. She is smart, and can think on her feet.

Phil Griffin, I hope you find it in your heart to send Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Chuck Todd on a free trip to Berlin when Senator Obama goes there. Keith, Rachel and Chuck strike me as people who would absolutely love to walk around this historical city - a city which we all know had a huge, huge impact on the 20th Century, dating all the way back to WWI. It would be an awesome place for them to do their reporting from. They deserve it. They have worked hard this year and are very popular with their viewers.

Rachel Maddow did not disappoint - she never does. It was a fantastic show last night. But then why wouldn't it be? The right wing continues to provide Rachel and Keith with an awful lot of material. Someone should tell the surrogates we see all over tv for McCain that they need new comedy writers.

Republican Party: Just because John McCain supported the surge that does not let him off the hook for supporting the Iraq invasion. His support of the surge will not bring one innocent dead Iraqi civilian back to life. Bad bad judgment in 2002, Senator McCain. Really bad. The worst possible mistake anyone in a position of power can make.

Supporting The Surge Does Not Earn Anyone Redemption.
It Goes Back To Who Had The Right Judgment On Day One. That Is When Leadership Matters. Only Then.

Lumping Obama's speech in with McCain's under your fact check smell test is overstated bias.

It is a fact that McCain cannot balance his budget while he has pledged to keep us in Iraq, while he claims he will cut everybody's, (and their mother's), taxes.

Then you put forth non facts which amount to nothing more than skepticism, as well as, analyst's opinions as to whether or not Obama will achieve his vision economically. You have no idea how the American people may very well rally around President Obama, in order to help him achieve his programs.

C'mon First Read! Everyone should know that the story of the day and perhaps the rest of the week is the fact that the Iraqi government is open to timetables for American withdrawal. In the meantime, the Bush Administration (and McCain by proxy) is trying their hardest to ignore this. So will the Al-Maliki government be poo-pooed as cut-and-runners or will Mr. Bush and Co. be seen as the greedy imperialists that they are? If a sovereign government states that they don't want us in their country anymore what then would be our justification to stay? Mr. Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" many years ago but we know that was a lie. Iraq was supposed to be the most dangerous country in the world. We know that to be false. Now the drumbeats for an Iran conflict continue because they have been declared the new biggest threat to America. A real journalist needs to question Sen. In criminal trials you have to bring forth a motive, in order to convict. The phone companies had no vested interest in wire tapping their customers, nor did the activity originate with them.

They were pressured to do the bidding of Bush, and his neocons. It is the government operatives who coerced the communications industry, using the war on terror after 9/11 as their 'in', that should be charged with criminal behavior.

I'm pretty much a middle of a roader, but for me too, that's all Barack Obama's economic plan seems to be is to socialize the country and raise everyone's taxes. The federal government already owns the education system and the farms, but Obama now wants to take over the banks, any remaining portion of health care that the government doesn't currently own, raise taxes on all business, and generally have the a central government control everything. On top of this, he's going make the country green, which sounds good on the surface, until we get the bill. A lot of people are going to be unemployed if Obama is in office.

T. Boone Pickens is a corporate raider. He waged war on The Gulf Oil Corp., whose headquarters were here in Pittsburgh, Pa. back in the mid eighties, and swallowed it up. My husband lost his job. We had a 10 yr. old, a 9 yr. old, and a 7 yr. old at the time.

Our family went into a 10 yr. financial sinkhole. We survived because my husband had always worked in a side business using his skill as a refrigeration tech., but money was tight. We had no healthcare.

I had a mail collection phobia. To go to the letterbox was an anxiety ridden affair, for all the bulging backed-up bills roaringly needing attention. I developed scalp psoriasis, from nerves.

But for the kindness of State subsidies, which we eventually paid back, we would have lost our home.

If you look at the basic proposals on tax's McCain's is for continuing the Bush economic policies. The economy is only "slowing" is a great example of how out of touch he is. The Executive branch proposes legistation and enacts the legistation once passed into law. The "bully pulpit" of the executive branch is what gives it power to motivate and unite the people. Lately we seen it used for purposes against the greater good of the U.S. populace. The signing into law of the Republican passed Bankruptcy Bill is one example. We can not afford to have a third Bush term. Obama is not perfect. His tax policies are not perfect. Yet they at least attempt to balance the tax policies toward benfiting more U.S. citizens. Unlike the Republican surrogates who believe a gas tax holiday will allow me to vacation an extra day and eat marsh mellows. I am more concerned about my house being forclosed my children not having the same ability to earn a good living than taking a vacation I can not afford in the first place.

I liked Barack Obama's economic message yesterday. I think he understands that the government is supposed to work for its citizens, not just corporations. I think eliminating income taxes for seniors who make less than $50,000 makes a lot of sense to me. I fail to see how Sen. McCain's Exxon-Mobil tax cut plan is going to help anyone. It certainly doesn't jibe with his supposed support for green energy. The Economist called Exxon-Mobil "conspicuously absent" among large companies devoting significant resources to research in green technology.

Supply side economics only work if corporations are acting in the best interest of their workers. The past decade has shown that today's executives aren't. Even shareholders are feeling the pain as executive pay packages skyrocket. Something is wrong with this picture.

To Jerry in Ft. Wayne, specifically, but to others who say Obama wants "to socialize the country", step back for a minute think about what you're claiming. He doesn't want to "raise taxes on all businesses." Read the speech. He is proposing to eliminate some of the taxes that start-ups and small businesses currently pay. He wants to extend some benefits that corporations, until the last 20 years or so, provided as standard business practice. And when you have to go take care of your mother or grandfather or the new baby you just brought home, extended family leave will allow you to do that.

There is more in the plan than your oversimplified "talking points" encompass. You say "a lot of people are going to be unemployed if Obama is in office." Guess what? A lot of people are unemployed now and the number is growing. This country has to right the balance sheet and take action to protect its citizens. I don't see John McCain (who just realized the economy is "slowing") doing anything to alleviate that.

McCains economic plan is laughable. Take a full read.

A balanced budget by 2013. Can be done especially when you don't budget for Social Security, Medicare or two wars. Don't need to budget for the wars, will have them won by then according to McCain. I can balance anything when you leave stuff out and imagine or wish they would not be there.

As I said yesterday, the the Senator said the economy is slowing. It was slowing 8 month ago. Today we are in a full fledged recession. He really needs to read the papers.

A gas tax holiday is is answer to the reducing the price of fuel at the pump. Thirty dollars over 3 months. A GOP taliking head said on TV last night thats a movie and a bag of marshmellows. That folks is long range thinking.

Personal savings accounts instead of Social Security. Is anyone ready to invest their future in the Stock Market, particularly THIS market?

....and my favorite. McCain said that with his plan 'it can't get any worse".

Predatory lendor.....took my information and then filled out application full of lies.....overstated income and assets and gave me a loan I could not afford. Seems this should be a bigger story. Of course Rachel Maddow while filling in for Keith Olbermann addressed the fact that President Bush said he would pull our troops and leave if the Iraqi government asked and now they are asking for a timetable. This plays into Obama's plan of withdrawal. So I understand why some people wouldn't consider this a hot topic. McBush supporters want this to go away...so what gives MSM?

I am sure if they asked us to stay 100 years, MSM would be giving McBush tons of praise.

Obama's plan would let the Bush tax cuts expire, raising taxes for the families making more than $250,000 a year. If you are not making that much, no need to worry.

Education systems in this country are state and community based. There are standardized test, mandated by President Bush, not the state.

Stop thinking that everything that is reported in the media is correct. Read the web-sites of BOTH candidates and make an informed system for yourself.
