By this twisted logic; the ‘silent majority’ is just waiting for an opportunity to strike? You mean like Bush with the Iraq war and McCain with his Iran agenda? Republicans need to understand that while they have historically fostered and bred apathy from the little guy by making sure he is single mindedly focused on mere survival - so they haven’t had time or energy to get involved politically – it simply will not work this election. The Repubs have actually inflicted enough pain that the masses are engaged and paying attention. We cannot afford to continue to max out our ChineseExpress card for these Wars of Choice. We need to focus at home on jobs, renewable energy, infrastructure and health care; all of the things that affect each of us. Saber rattling in the Middle East is what warmonger’s do. Cleaning up Afghanistan is a priority; but we need to back the hell out of Iraq and shut up about Iran – not make snide little crass remarks at every opportunity. The world is watching and I can assure you McCain underwhelms equally at home AND abroad.

If we had drilled in ANWAR when congress passed the energy bill, which was vetoed by Bill Clinton, we would be getting the oil now. The liberals keep saying we cannot drill our way out of the oil crisis because it would take 7 to 10 yrs to get the oil. Again we would be getting the oil now if not for Clintons veto, which was supported by the democrats. There are a lot of things that could have been done if congress would quit playing politics with the energy policies. We need to drill for more oil in the United States, build more nuclear power plants, use more natural gas, more fuel efficient cars and wind and solar power. The energy should not be politicized.

The Senator's voting record on renewable energy sources, biofuel, wind power, etc. is one of the worst in Congress. The candidate McCain, has thus far proposed a gas tax holiday which economists have panned ad useless pandering and drilling off our coastline which would have no impact for 7 to 10 years. Mostly psychological said McCain.

Let's get serious. McCain knows as much about "energy' as he does about the economy. We need a comprehensive, long-term solution that weans us off our addiction to fossil fuels. If we continue down the road we a currently on we need not fear attacks by attacks, the will have won by bankrupting us.

Next time you do an electral college map, note the additonal movement from lean to McCain to Toss-up and from Toss-up to blue. Obama will peak in early November and will "earn" 300 to 350 EC votes. Obama will win the popular vote 55% to 47% with the remainder going to the Libertarians.

Some people are dense. If the start drilling today, we will see nothing for the next 5-7 years. And then the oil will be sold on the WORLD MARKET! Not saved for the US to use...not there to drop gas prices. But there to generated even more record profits because by them Oil, a FINITE resouce, will probably be around 170 a barrel. This is the latest Republican strategy? Bury their heads in the sand, repeat over and over that Obama doesn't have any plans, and hope that independents (who decide elections) also have their heads buried?

That's a tough one to pull off, because seemingly unbeknownst to Republicans, many independents have internet access and can go the campaign websites themselves, to see what's there and what isn't.

But, hey, let them try to make that attack work.

The interesting thing to me is what Chuck Todd said last night - the Republican strategy has come down to making this election a referendum on Obama. So in other words, if Democrats are talking about Obama, and Republicans are talking about Obama, it seems that all independents hear will be people talking about Obama.
