Okay, this was an interesting discussion I had last night with my husband's boss - a devout Catholic and long time Republican. He is so anti-McCain that he is voting for Obama (I know many of you don't believe me when I say this-but here in the heartland there are SO many). Here's his logic:

He perceives Obama as at least Competent (does not believe that about McCain), so feels that at least Obama won't drive the country over a cliff. He further believes that in four years the "silent majority - Religious Right -whatever they want to call themselves" will be disatisfied with the Liberal tilt of the country and will be able to regain control of at least the house and by then they may have an actual, competent Right wing candidate.

I guess if I flip that around to the disgruntled Hillary supporters, I can at least empathize a little better with Bobbi and Maca. Of course, I don't agree with them.

I believe Obama is a very principled, intelligent candidate who also happens to mirror most of my values. I feel blessed this election; but I can understand better why the Repubs are less united, much more today than I did yesterday.

Whiners? I guess coming from the McSame campaign this is no surprise. McCain has not pumped his own gas and really can't understand having trouble paying for grocery bills when he has 7 houses.

Although he does seem to have trouble paying his taxes on the 6th one.

What is really sad is that people that feel this pain the most may actually vote for him.

Rising gas prices? The oil companies have to pay for "research".

No jobs? You're not looking hard enough - pull harder on those bootstraps.

This really is unbelievable, and it reveals how truly out of touch McCain and his campaign really are with the American people. And he even admitted that his gas tax "holiday" did nothing more than serve as a psychological boost to people.

Anyone who makes less than $200,000/year and votes for McCain is casting a vote against their own economic interests.
