I would love to see McAskill (but I don't think I will). But Richardson has been my choice for a long time. I think he's key to the West and a wonderful link to the Hispanic community... Besides, it would really put a knot in the Clinton's knickers, wouldn't it?

To answer Curious George's earlier question on how hypocritical '...Obama can be attacking McCain as being a part of the problem due to being in the Senate for 26 years, and then to choose Biden...'.
******************************************************Becuase Biden's 35 years of Senate experience has put him on the 'right' side of most of the major issues since the 70's.
From the Cold War dealings at the beginning, to Social Security and Medicare, to the Biden-then-Clinton Crime Bill, to the Dayton Accords, and his Violence against Womens Act and now his 75 senator approved Plan for Iraq.
He is very much seen as hard working, no nonsense, non-partisian senator with Liberal ideals. Which is why he has been nominated to the ranks like that of Chairman of the Judiciary committee and now the Chairman of the Foreign Relations committee (like 6th in line to the president).
Some have even likened Biden's younger self to that of Obama much because of his civil rights accomplishments and that he doesn't ever actually live in Washington, but commutes often instead.
I say that's pretty solid and vividly different than McCain. He is also a professor of Constitional Law.

Why on earth would Sen. Clinton require formal vetting? We know everything there is to know about her. She's the best possible pick for VP ... all this vetting of others is a smokescreen. It will be Obama/Clinton by the end of the convention.

Interesting, my top favorite pick for Obama is still Biden. I have to agree with Clara about Chris Dodd, he is very uninteresting. I don't see Obama choosing any woman for VP other than Hillary Clinton. In my opinion it would be crazy for him to do so, that would alienate many Hillary voters.

If Pawlenty is not being vetted, McCain just woke up to the fact that we in MN do not like him. He barely won reelection,and the only reason he did is that the opposing candidate imploded at the end. MN Republicans are from the right wing nut case part of the party, and Pawlenty is nothing but an empty suit, more concerned about his own future than the needs of this state.

When the bridge collapsed in MN, one of his political hacks would not return from a jaunt she was on. She just figured it would wait, I guess.

The only reason I would want Pawlenty on McCain's ticket is to get him the heck out of here.

What about Hugo Chavez? He'd be a perfect VP candidate for Obama. Both he and Obama are socialists, plus he speaks Spanish, which Obama says everyone should speak, even though he doesn't.

Sigh...I'm so tired of hearing about how Obamaa "needs" Clinton. No he doesn't.

I like Obama-Richardson. Obama "needs" foreign policy experience, and Richardson is the man for the job.
