Senator Obama has been ahead of the curve on what is happening in the Middle East. He is quite correct when he says that we have ignored Afghanistan to our peril. John McCain is playing catchup, and does not seem to understand the real issues.

Obama totally won the argument and cause mccain to flip flop. I have never heard mccain mention catching terrorist in afghanistan before obama did. obama also cause president bush to flip flop too which is great. also bush flip flopped on have direct talks with iran, because they are going to have the talks this weekend, so obama is definitely winning this argument

Barack Obama's position on foreign policy in Iraq and Afghanistan is the most comprehensive one that I have heard yet.

Last night's discussion on Larry King Live with Barack Obama was very impressive. Barack is intelligent and thoughtful. He has a grasp of the issues and is able to articulate his positions clearly.

I like the fact he is capable of doing his own thinking. That was clearly absent in the Bush administration and continues with McCain.

I still don't see what makes McCain REALLY qualified to be Commander-in_chief. It Eludes me.

Until yesterday, McCain felt the problems in Afghanistan we political and not military. MvCain had Iraq pegged as the center of the terrorist universe. Again, he was terribly wrong.

Obama had maintained all along that the fight should be in Afghanistan, that we had been distracted by a Iraqi war, a war that should never had been waged. Our enemies were in Afghanistan, the peoiple who attacked us on 9/11 were regrouping in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It took 9 American lives to prove him right.

Yesterday, the "inexperienced" "naive" junior Senator from Illiois, gave McCain a lesson in judgement and commander in chief abilities by announcing he would send two brigades to reinforce our undermanned forces there.

McCain, quick to jump on the bandwagon and parrot the Obama position said the troops were needed there.

Two years of continuing denying the commanders in Afghanistan the forces they needed, he has finally agreed.

He did not admit fault or a lack of judgement. He just flip-flopped and made it sound like it was his idea.

The man has no morals or shame.

If this race is going to come down to defining Obama on foreign policy and national security, then Obama's campaign needs to start laying out for the country the things he has said that have called inexperienced and naive by the republicans only to be acted upon by Bush or later embraced by McCain:

Troops in Afghanistan, speaking with Iran without preconditions (could include North Korea as well), etc...

These lists of Obama saying something and then months later Bush doing that very thing or McCain embracing the idea shows Obama's forward thinking, his macro view of issues, his intellect and his insight.

Some of these posts are amazing. what alack of intelligence. Now I see how we have had such an ignortant president in office for 8 years. it does not give one confidence in the future of this country.
The Iraq war has always been a civil war in that country. The only reason things are quiet right now is because Al Sadr is keeping a lid on his people until after we leave. Then they will mix it up again. It IS their coutry after all, and they have a right to self determination.
The real Al-Quaeda is in Afghanistan. You know, the place where 9-11 was planned? The U.S. just tucked its tail and abandoned an outpost after 9 soldiers were killed there. Now the Taliban has taken over that area and the local town. Wake up people, the danger to America in the middle east is coming from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

If the Iraq occupation was initiated under false pretenses, there never was a legitimate reason for killing so many people. The correct thing to do would be to get out. Afganistan is a country we attacked because they provided land for training (alleged) the 9/11 terrirists. We as a nation have become weaker fighting unecessary conflicts. The bush policy was flawed from the start. A smart person knows when the effort being expended cost more than what the desired results could be. I never wanted to believe the invasison was for Oil but the Republicans have proven me wrong. All politicians lie but the ole GOP has out done themselves. Let's fight Al-Qaida where they are in A'stan/ P"stan.
