His statement the other day about the Iraq/Pakistan border was just a minor slip up - he meant Iran. But his description about the events surrounding the surge is a MAJOR screw up. It's more than just mixing up the names of two countries, it's having a completely incorrect view/understanding of what took place. And since this "surge" has become the centerpiece of his campaign in the last few days, it's even more significant that he doesn't even know what the hell happened.

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

The other real story of the Anbar Awakening gaffe is that CBS edited the interview, removing McCain's gaffe.

more on this here:
http://strategy08.wordpress.com/

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

Obama needs to know what he is facing internationally and to be ready from day one of his presidency and that along with the good ratings he is receiving will get him into the white house. McCain's fate will be sealed. He is not as quick a study and the age difference is going to be very powerful. Sen. Obama is going to show that he can change gears much more quickly than Sen. McCain. He is very well versed on politics of both parties and the pluses and minuses of the Rep. & Dem back to Lincoln as well as he's a history buff of Washington, Jefferson and Hamilton. He understand that economy is tied to social development. Globalization is here to stay and what benefits the 3rd world will benefit everyone.
He does not see governments/ countries/ dictators as evil as much as outcast and that they can be motivated by economy to come into the fold. As Obama said during one press conference, the surge was only one factor and according to Ronald Reagan's former Assistant Sec. of Defense, Lawrence Korb, it was not the most important one. The most important factor by far was the "Sunni Awakening" that added almost 100,000 men many of which had been fighting Americans, to the fight against Al Qaeda.

That's why McCain "misspoke" about when the Sunni Awakening began. It was another of his lies of convenience; he still doesn't seem to know that "the google" can get him into trouble when he lies.

But some in the media are circling the wagons around McCain, as usual when he makes a fool of himself. The AP (Always Propaganda) reported that Obama refused to acknowledge the "success" of the surge, and didn't mention his own explanation about how the Sunni Awakening was a major factor in the decrease in violence in Iraq. The omission made Obama sound obstinate and petty when the truth is that he was absolutely correct about the situation that McCain lied about. Just another day in the wonderful world of corporate media.

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

I am a loyal Obama supporter and a lifelong Democrat, but I have always liked Senator McCain. I just wish he would campaign as his "true self." McCain is a guy who really does work with both Democrats and Republicans. He has always shown respect to his fellow senators. Now, his straight talk express has derailed. He is hinting that Senator Obama is not patriotic by suggesting Obama wants to lose wars. I really believe that McCain does not believe this, but his advisers are telling him what to say. McCain should remember the Hillary Clinton campaign. She was losing badly because of her listening to her advisors. Once Hillary took charge and called the shots, she started winning. McCain be your true self, that's the person America likes. McCain, you are your best advisor. Take control of your campaign.

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

Putin said it correctly over 5 years ago....
..attacking Iraq will destabilize that region.."
Yes we have destabilized that region by attacking Iraq...and we are responsible....will more death be the solution?..If so vote for Hellboy...if not vote for Obama

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

John McCain - Is failing to realize that it's not the Media's fault that he is unpopular.

The more John McCain talks the more he subtracts the sum of human knowledge.

He has to realize it is HE; that creates his own demise. Not the Media, Not the Democrats, and at this stage to some degree - not even George Bush.

John McCain is just not Presidential material - he's too set in his old way and has an old mind set.

He doesn't understand that after George Bush - America is under a new transformation - with newer ideas and greater expectations.

Most American don't see transformation happening with John McCain -

Barack Obama - is the new wave "if you will" the intelligent man - that fits the younger generation of American (18 - 60) and John McCain he is not a person our generation.

John McCain’s whining - blaming the media and also his resulting to telling lies in his advertisements – Is a sign of desperation – he’s looking for help in any way possible.

These are the times of intellectual common - sense.

Not continued false or idiotic notions.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE MORALS IN THIS COUNTRY? wE ARE CLOSE TO ELECTING A MAN WHO HAS RUN NOTHING BUT HIS MOUTH OVER A WAR HERO THAT WAS TORTURED FOR 5 YEARS. MAYBE OBAMA S MINISTER WAS RIGHT=NOT GOD BLESS AMERICA BUT GOD D---- AMERICA, THATS WHAT I SAY IF HE IS ELECTED.

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

What makes mccain think he is responsible and takes credit for the surge? Colonel McFarlane (phonetic) was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that''s just a matter of history."

The reality on the ground: The military commanders who were in Iraq in 2006 wrote that the Sunni Awakening had begun (this was 4 months before the president ordered an escalation known as the surge) and they noted that local sheiks has become tired of being used by foreigners. They noted the addition of local police and the growing cooperation of the local governments with the Iraqi government and the locals willingness to fight the insurgents. The "false depiction" is coming from Mr. McCain. He has no clue as to what is going on and gives himself credit for something that happened organically and in spite of the Americans. His credibility is zero, as is that of CBS news which edited his remarks and dropped his mis-statements about the Sunni Awakening in its evening broadcast. The unedited transcript shows what McCain really said and its not the patched together interview that CBS aired.

First Read: Journalistic integrity is at stake here so you should stay on top of this for the sake of your profession.

Obama vs. McCain: A tough attack

DAVID ANDERS, TEXAS,

Is probably one of those same people that were up in arms over the pastor's unfortunate statement in the first place.
