With all the problems in the Bush Adminsitration, I will sleep easier at night knowing that no government personel is at Obama's speech.

Every time I think the Bush Adminstration couldn't be any more ridiculous, they prove me wrong.

I think what they mean to say is they shouldn't be seen as advocating a side unless they choose which side it is. Does anyone out there really think a speech by Uncle Fluffy in, say, Prague would be declared a "partisan political event"?

So, Senator Obama can't give a speech in Berlin without it being a "partisan political event" but it's just fine and dandy for Dubya to stump for Uncle Fluffy in the Knesset?

Sen. McCain's campaign has tried all sorts of cute, anti-European ideas out -- the bi-lingual "JV press corps" luggage tags, the disparaging remark about being behind the French on building nuclear energy sites, and now the radio addresses in towns with names like "Berlin" and "Paris." What's the point? If Sen. McCain were elected, he would presumably not treat these foreign governments sarcastically....And, after all, the European portion of Sen. Obama's trip is only a few days' long -- much of the time was spent (as per McCain's goad) in the Middle East. Sen. McCain would have been far more productive to use the time to work under the radar and hone his campaign's messages than to make mean-spirited attacks and statements to the press that have backfired. In addition, Sen. McCain seems to be a person who can't sit still -- yes he has made eight or more trips to Iraq...at taxpayer expense. Might he himself not argue that so many trips are "pork" and that he could have done more reading and research and spent less precious fuel jetting there over and over again?

The RNC is up with radio ads hitting Obama for his lack of support for troop funding last year. The ads are running in all three US cities named Berlin in PA, WI, and NH, as well as all three US cities named Paris in ME, MI, and MO -First Read

This ad got a barely true on the truth-o-meter this morning on 'Joe'.

It was reported that Senator Obama had voted for funding the troops many times, but Bush had jammed items into this particular bill that Barack could not in good conscience vote for.

That's all Obama knows is how to put on major circuses. Ideas? None. Fact finding? Please, Obama is so cocky, he thinks he knows it all. People come to Him to get facts, not the other way around. Change? Obama has been a status quo guy all his life. He hasn't ever changed anything. Politics? Extreme leftwinger with a record of not playing well with others that disagree with him.

So now this contrived event in Germany is termed partisan. What a surprise. That is something Obama knows.

GDI, McCain dared Obama to go and he took him up on that dare and it back-fired on McCain. There is but so much either candidate can do to make real changes in the USA today in their current roles. Obama is adding to his resume abroad and I applaud his effort. Congressmen take trips abroad quite often, they just don't get as much press. Be realistic here in knowing that he is supposed to act Presidential while on this trip...do you expect him to act like a pilot or something else!

He probably can't do anything right for you anyway!

This campaign is failing on every front. I don't personally have a problem with him dumping all of this cash before the convention; but seriously - What a Waste.

I have no problem with the decision.

Its a stretch to believe Germans are going to recognize state department personnel and assume a department-wide endorsement, but there's nothing wrong with keeping the lines between campaigning and governance clear - in fact it would be great if it wasn't blurred as much as it is.

Why this was deemed blog-worthy I'm not sure I understand.

He didn’t dare him to campaign to the Germans.. I am an Independent who hasn't decided yet who to vote for but this just doesn’t sit well with me. Kind of like people criticizing the government when they are over seas. Its OK to criticize but not Over there.
Secondly I suppose any "Citizen" could go and make a speech at the Brandenburg gate? That’s the whole point. I think he looked vary good in Afghanistan and Iraq. But I still want my say in who leads this country, and the fact he has done this in another country is what I have a Issue with. It just sits wrong with me.

Barack Obama is a United States Senator – Why can’t Americans oversea go see he if they choose too?

We are Americans - were are not citizens or China or Cuba – our government shouldn’t dictate what we can and can not do.

THE Bush administration should be a shame to degrade and causes disgrace amongst our Democrat way of life.
