IT seems as if Senator McCain called a bluff but wasn't prepared to see not only Senator Obama meet the bluff, but make it blow up in McCain's face. Obama went to
Iraq - President Al Maliki praised his timetable of 16 months in withdrawing US troops. Maliki seemed geuninely impressed with Obama.
Gen. Patreaus was seen, in pictures, smiling with Obama both as he greeted him and then when the took a helicopter tour.
Afghanistan - President Hamid Karzai greeted him warmly.
Jordan - King Abdullah was so impressed that he personally drove Obama to the airport and then still chatted up another 20 minutes next to the plane.
Israel - President Shimon Peres had nothing for praise for him, along with the rest of the Israeli leaders whom Obama met.
Palestine - President Mahmoud Abbas greeted him warmly and thought their time together was productive. Even some Israelis thought it was a good idea for Obama to get both sides positions and perspectives, a difference noted by a key Israeli leader.
Germany - Chancellor Angela Merkel seemed geniunely accepting of Obama, going perhaps a little too far in saying he is PHYSICALLY, mentally, and something else fit. I mean really, physically fit? Did they have too private a session? Okay, I digress. But there's no mistaking the fact that 200,000 Germans showed up to hear this man speak, waviing US flags as opposed to burning them and making a mockery of the US.
France - President Nicoals Sarkozy calls Obama "his buddy." If you saw any of the pictures, dude was totally impressed.
Great Britain - Meets with Prime Minister Gordon Brown who again receives him warmly.

For McCain, and then all of the people who say he's "cocky" or "arrogant" or "presumptuous" or whatever other word, Obama is flat out showing you that he's got juice with thw world. Now if you want to believe that we can do EVERYTHING here in the US and we don't need any help internationnaly, then
1) let all of those countries take their troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan (but remember that President Bush has been asking people to keep their troops there or even send more troops to no avail)
2) we don't need NAFTA as we can just trade with ourselves (even though McCain just 6 or 8 weeks ago went to Canada to make a speech extolling the virtues of free trade)
3) China holds a LOT of our debt (and if you don't want them calling in all of their notes, we've got to have some standing in the world)

Obama has a big picture personality while his campaign works on the small points to ensure a smooth seemless operation. That's why you didn't have Obama in front of cameras or anywhere else making mistakes like McCain did in saying "Iraq was the first major conflict post 9/11." If I remember corectly, we went to war in Afghanistan to counter the attack that was made against us on 9/11. That's why Obama continues to do well in the polls and in his leadership team while McCain has had two shakeups.

Look, if you're making $250 or $300,000 or more, I don't blame you for looking warily at Obama. He's promised to raise your taxes. If you make under $250, taxes will be the same or less. But know that many billionaires, including the richest man in the US, Warren Buffett, likes Obama's ideas. I aspire to move towards that financial goal so I'm going to at least look at what he's saying. But for anyone to say that Obama was wrong in taking the trip, especially McCain, well, they're just flat out wrong. And especially McCain as he took THREE international trips in the last month. I think the criticism from McCain, like former President Bush said on 7/21 or 22 is that there's a little jealousy. Get over it J-Mac, you called the bluff and Obama answered - BIG TIME.

John McCain is the last person who is in a position to criticize any candidate's commitment to the troops. He has voted against funding for our vets year after year, vote after vote.

He opposed the new GI bill Webb and Hagel worked so hard to get passed until it became clear it was going to pass with overwhelming veto proof support. His excuse was it was too expensive, though he obviously felt no expense was too great to keep huge cuts for the rich, and that we should limit our vets options to pressure more of them to re-up Great way to support our vets! Of course after he changed his mind he actually had the gall to take credit for the bill and GW had the gall to thank him and ignore Webb at the signing.

When questioned about his consistent votes against vets by a leader of a vets organization here in Denver he refused to answer and just said the guy didn't know what he was talking about and of course he supports vets, as if that has to be accepted as a given because of his personal history no matter how many times he votes AGAINST vets.

The man is a hypocrite and DOES NOT SUPPORT VETS in any concrete way. He just uses them.

We truly are 'junkies',...I've been on for an hour hoping for a new story.

Way to hit back, Obama. Gently and succinctly. Yes, the double speak express has co-opted onto Obama's talking points. Way to call him on it.

I have not done the research; but it appears that the Obama campaign has funded this entire trip abroad. It is my understanding that the photos with military in Afghanistan and Iraq are exclusive to Centcom and all other interviews are compliments of the traveling press corps, who were invited along.

I am proud of my candidate and cannot wait for him to get back and set the record straight domestically. I think McCain has become like a gnat, just an irritating monotonous buzz that has no significance in the grand scheme of things.

He looked and acted like the immature fool he is this week trying to piggy back onto Obama's foreign success instead of focusing on his own 'plan'. I get that he doesn't have one; but that was made glaringly obvious when he had lunch at the sausage house in front of 20 patrons, the same day Obama gave a speech in Berlin in front of 200,000. These differences are SO blindingly stark, I can't imagine anyone drinking Republican Kool Aid this year.

John McCain, POW & US Senator for over 25 years.

Was it always Senator McCain's intention, after his loss in 2000, to run for President in 2008?

I think about John McCain having birthday cake with GWB during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

I think about the story Dana Priest uncovered about Walter Reed.

I think about how John McCain had serious issues with the USA invading Iraq initially, but he voted for it anyway. Did he not realize the consequences?

What convinced him to change his mind and that yes, Iraq was the place to go afterall instead of using all of our available resources to hunt down Osama Bin Laden?

I think of over the 4,000 American casualties in Iraq.

I think of the many thousands of Iraqi civilian deaths (of which he never speaks of).

He speaks only in very simple sentences. The surge worked and victory. There are no winners when the USA invades another country. Doesn't he know this?

I think about Jim Webb's GI Bill and how Senator McCain didn't want to support it because it may induce our troops to leave the military to get an education. Yet he shamlessly took credit for the passage of the Bill.

I think about the scars (both physical & emotional) our vets are going to have to live with for the rest of their lives because our government turned their backs on them.

I think about the failing grade Senator McCain received from our vets when it came to his support of the military.

I think of how could he possibly care about the future for the citizens of Iraq when he doesn't appear to give a damn about our own citizens.

I think about how he said that unlike Michelle Obama, he & HIS wife have always been proud to be American citizens. Of course, that's always easy to say when you inherit a great deal of money.

I think about how Senator McCain can't possibly get any lower in his treatment of Senator Obama, but he continues to do so, every hour of every single day.

Senator McCain reminds me of all those conservative white haired old bankers & CEO's we used to see in the old movies, sitting around a large table in their penthouse offices, so out of touch & nasty to anyone who wasn't one of them.

I think about that bombed out church that is still standing in Berlin as a reminder to the German people of how devastating war can be. How ironic.

Why in the world would anyone believe that Senator McCain cares about anything other than his own political future? He's just like what we have in the White House this very moment.

The more I learn about him and listen to him, the more I realize that I have no evidence that proves otherwise.

What's the likelihood of Alzheimer's disease or other mental decline? At 72, McCain would be the oldest person to ever become president. Reagan's mental health declined in his second term.

Dr. David Katz: Average life span for men in the U.S. is roughly 75. The fact that Senator McCain is a senator, has money, influence, and privilege; a family; excellent medical care -- all mitigate in his favor. These are factors that would, all things being equal, tend to extend his life expectancy. His past traumas, and the melanoma, would mitigate the other way -- lowering his life expectancy.

Isn't ANYONE worried about this man being in a position to make decisions 3 or 4 years from now when he will be 75 or 76?

How will re react under pressure?
When things aren't going his way?
When he is being challenged mentally and physically?

These aren't insults, these are valid concerns that every American should have.
Don't we have enough problems without compounding them by electing a man who can't accept the fact that we all get older and life gets a bit more difficult?

Every voter needs to remember that McCain will have four years do attempt to undue all the damage Bush has done. He won't be getting any younger.

Obama pretty much slammed McCain on every negative and deragatory point he's made this week. Even included the fact that McCain flip-flopped on troop withdrawlas on Iran. McCain has now effectively co-opted every major Obama position on the wars in Iraq and Afghanastan. Seems, the "naive", inexperienced junior Sentor from Illinois was right all along. Love to see the spin on how McCain magically came to the same positions Obama held for 2 years and made them his own.

As regards to the hospital visit in Germany,"I was going to be accompanied by one of my advisers, a former military officer. And we got notice that he would be treated as a campaign person and it would therefore be perceived as political, because he had endorsed my candidacy but he wasn't on the Senate staff," Obama said, referring to Gen. Scott Gration, who had worked to organize the trip.

A former Lt. General in ther US Army was being denied access to a military hospital to see wounded heroes. A retired Lt.General.

Does this mean if General David H. Petraeus, had accompanied Obama he could not seem him as he is not a member of the Senators staff? Absurd!

Someone should ask the military arm of the Bush poitical campaign, the Pentagon, if a Petraeus visit would be allowed. Some one should ask why the militaryt is being used in such a shameful way. Someone should make Bush accountable for these obscene acts of parisanship that has made us the laughing stock of the worls and his presidency irrelevent.

The attempts by the McCain campaign to exploit Senator Obama's decision about visiting the military hospital is despicable. What are they implying?

Why would Senator Obama announce the trip if he didn't intend to go?

Why would he cancel the trip if the Pentagon told his campaign what they are telling the press now?

What could the Obama campaign possibly gain from the way things have turned out?

At best it was an unfortunate miscommunication, at worst it was an attempt by the Bush/McCain team to sabotage Senator Obama.

In either case, it is NOT something that should be political fodder, just like Senator Obama's prayer from the wall in Israel should not have been.

For all the talk of "honor" from the McCain campaign, their behavior this week has clearly demonstrated that they have none.

McCain has a long history of vindictive behavior, especially against women. His wretched behavior blocking Obama's visit to the wounded troops was vile, detestable, and shamless. I think all of his carping, sniping, and slanderous vitriol against Senator Obama because his trip has been such a huge success, will backfire, just like it did with Hillary.

Lastly,I understand the statement, "I have already commited an increase in American troops in Afghanistan", as qualified, if, he were to be elected to CIC.

Obviously Barack isn't taking anything for granted. He is working much too hard. A candidate full of assumptions, and a sense of entitlement does not put forth the intensity of effort that the Obama campaign has demonstrated for a year, and a half. A lesson we not so long ago learned in the primaries.

What I found absolutely amazing is that Barack Obama was very welcomed into the international community. Not many negative responses! This tells me something; is the problem with Barack being a presidential nominee an issue with just Americans or people abroad? It appears to be more of a controversy with the local people. Another issue that doesn't say much for America and Americans! In fact, I wonder if America has become a somewhat contribution to many of the global social issues we DO experience across many nations??? Even Daddy Bush had enough sense to give credit where is was do when asked how he felt about Mr. Obama's speechs in Europe. "JEALOUSY".
Instead of Mr. McCain using the time he had while Mr. Obama was out of the country to talk to us about his plans of steering the economics of this country back to life, all he and his advisors could came up with was how inexperienced and still naive Mr. Obama was.
Even to the point of making fun of the millions of people around the world who came in droves to hear a man talk to them not at them about coming together to make our world one that is safer and more prosperous.

The McCain camp did just as much traveling than Barack. Difference is, who cared? I would imagine that people perceived McCain as the "Bush as usual" and didn't want to waste their time listening to a carbon copy. However, Barack made good of his visits and, McCain could not compete with that. No need to get sore about it! Wow, I thought the sore losers were behind us when Hillary left the race! I will imagine that the real, short tempered, arrogant John McCain that some of us know will surface before November!

John McCain is simply jealous of Obama. In Maine, Bush 41 had the honesty to admit that he was jealous of the reception Obama received in Germany. Kelly O'Donnell asked him (Bush 41) a question that begged for a criticism of Obama, but Bush 41 surprised her by telling the truth--he said he was jealous of Obama! And McCain is jealous, too--what politician, all of whom hav elarger-than-normal egos, wouldn't be? The media have been so gentle with McCain, as if he is their grandfather. "Ah, that's just gramps forgetting that there is not Iraq-Pakistan border, that's just good ole gramps forgetting that the Awakening came months before the surge, no big deal..." He has made a plethora of mistakes, but has not been called to task for it by the press. CBS even covered for him by editing the tape. It is almost as if because of his age, the media are afriad to be tough on him. McCain looks less like a "maverick" or "warrior" than he does an often-confused and cantankerous septuagenarian, which in fact is what he is. McCain's envy, his jealousy of Obama brought out his infamous temper this week and revealed his mean, cruel streak. McCain is a military man who is reliving the Viet Nam war through the Iraq war hoping for a different conclusion. Also, McCain--like Bush and his oilman pals--wants to keep us in Iraq for the very reason they invaded in the first place--access to the oilfields. That is why McCain wants a 50-to-100-year occupation. The Iraq war is over--we are now an occupying military force. Eisenhower knew the cost of war and warned against our becoming an "industrial military complex;" McCain is the opposite--he would keep us engaged in war. My fear is that he would do with Iran what Bush did with Iraq--provoke Iran in order to create a reason to keep our military engaged in a mid-east war.
