We need not worry about Obama. He'll get rolled on the nuclear issue, just like he got rolled on the drilling issue, the visiting the troops issue (which, apparently, he forgot to do while he was there - too many cameras I guess). Obama is popular because he's popular, just like Paris and Britney. His positions on what is imporant to the country though are not even close to where the American people are.

McCain has said Obama has said "no" to nuclear energy. But as the Boston Globe points out, "Obama has described nuclear power as 'not optimal' and labeled himself 'not a nuclear energy proponent.' But he has said he would not rule out more nuclear power 'only so far as it is clean and safe.'"

Now let's see if I understand this correctly.

The GOP evidently have taken it upon themselves to define Senator Obama before he defines himself. At least that's what I keep hearing.
What exactly does that mean?
Are we to assume that Senator Obama is unable to do that himself?

According to them, we the people "don't know him" yet. Even with the internets, with the books Senator Obama has written, his ads, his interviews and all the campaigning he does? What is he, an empty suit or something? Is that what the GOP really believes?

hmmmm.

In case the right wingers haven't noticed, Senator Obama did quite well in the primaries and has raised a great deal of money. And unless it's my imagination, and despite what I hear over and over and over, I'm under the impression from what I have seen with my own eyes, that Senator Obama is quite capable to reach out to thousands upon thousands of people where ever he goes. I just don't see where he needs help from the GOP in defining him. People DO seem to know him and because of that, they seem to like him just fine. When we listen to him, we see immediately that hes a very smart man. And we happen to think hes on to something.

I hate to break it to the republican party, but Senator Obama is not the one who needs defining. Actually it's the GOP, who seem to have destroyed everything they have touched along the way, starting with the Nixon years. And since you guys dont seem to want to take the time to define your candidate for the President of the United States, Senator McCain, it is up to us to do it for you. And were not going to stop.

And sorry, but most of us just don't feel the need to depend on Buchanan or McCain or Romney or Limbaugh or Hannity or O'Reilly or Kristol or Krauthammer or Barnes or anyone in the GOP for that matter to educate us. We go elsewhere. That's because we like the truth.

Poor GOP - those guys are still taking their marching orders from President Reagan - don't speak ill of another republican (until the election is over).

Republicans can't govern -
I believe the first time I heard these 3 words it was from John Dean. The same John Dean we have all come to know and respect from watching him on Countdown w/Keith Olbermann. Another American citizen who is making a difference. Who is telling us the truth.

So here's Obama playing, or at least trying to play, both sides of the fense again. McCain is for drilling. Okay we Americans get that position. McCain is for nukes. Okay, we as Americans get that position. Obama is against drilling, before he's a little bit for it, then, we'll he's not so sure. Okay we as Americans are really not sure what he's stance is on drilling. Obama is against nukes, then he's a little bit for him, but maybe not. Okay, we as Americans are not sure about his stance on the nukes.

This is why Obama is dropping like a rock in the polls. The American people are starting to see what he stands for, or at best don't know where he stands. This is not a leader. This is not a man that is comfortable with his positions. This is why Barack goes back to the Senate in November.

McCain doesn't have a clue. Since January 1, 2008 we have lost 500,000 jobs in this country, plenty of small businesses have closed down because no one is patronizing their business, gas is going through the roof and demand is going down (no one is driving because of the prices) and people are losing their homes.

This geezer is so out of touch it's ridiculous if he thinks that we are "better off now" than we were 8 yrs. ago. A lot of damage has been done in 8 yrs. and it's high time that we start cleaning up this mess created by his president and their cronies in both the house AND the senate.

People talk about this Congress being a "do nothing congress" or a lame duck. Well whenever they put something up and it gets vetoed exactly how much work can get done. The Dems took over in 2006 but they STILL don't have enough votes to override a veto unless they get Republicans to agree with them. How often did that happen? They, the Republicans, had to beg Bush to sign the freaking housing bill! So if I were in congress I would take offense to those that think that they are a do nothing congress because that idiot with the pen in the Oval Office is the reason that they can't do anything.

If McCain gets elected, and let's all get on bended knee and pray that he doesn't, we are going to be in a world of even bigger hurt than we are now. He is going to continue to dig the rabbit hole that Bush has thrown us into and there would be no end in sight.

Oddly, I watched Paris Hilton's response to McCain's ad and someone made her sound down right smart with her "hybrid of both" and it make sense. Nuclear is NOT the way to go because most people don't want them in their back yards and exactly where are we going to put the waste from these 45 plants that McCain wants built? No one seems to be addressing THAT aspect of these 45 nuclear power plants. We all know that he doesn't, however, want that waste in Arizona.

Please give me a break why don't ya.

I don't know if I've ever seen this level of incompetence from a presidential team. Not only do they lie about their opponent's proposal, but they do it in a way that still makes for a better "plan" than their own.

As we've seen from numerous analyses, properly inflated tires would save us more gasoline than offshore drilling can produce. Is it Obama's "plan?" No. But its still better than what McCain proposes.

While McCain is touting the one of the main stables of his energy policy, nuclear power, he doesn't explain how going more nuclear will help the average American taxpayer. All the Nuclear power produced is used to generate electricity, which accounts for 20% of America's electricity generation. Oil accounts for ~2% of the electricity produced. How does more nuclear power help average Americans paying for high price of gasoline and diesel at the pump?

As usual, McBush is lying about Obama's position on Nuclear power. What I find interesting is that McCain once vowed that nuclear waste would NEVER be stored in Arizona. Maybe it can be stored near one of his other many houses. Or maybe not, because, though senile, McCain still realizes that nuclear power creates toxic waste that will last thousands of years and blight whatever spot it is dumped in. So, John-boy says, lets go nuclear---as long as you don't store that waste in MY backyear(s, given the number of houses Cindy Lou Who lets him live in). So, McCain is willing to ruin SOMEBODY'S back yard for this easy election-year fix...as long as it isn't HIS.

I have been paying attention to Obama and mccain this whole election and I have never heard Obama say he didn't want nuclear power. In a debate he said that we would have to consider nuclear power and I remember hillary clinton ridiculing him for it. so I think this is an irrelevant issue.
