And Navy officers have a term for their enlisted personnel - Enlisted Friends. They say it with a snide smile, because the inside joke (one in which only Navy officers think is funny) is the F in friends is universally understood to refer to another word. Seriously. These guys think that's funny.

Now take a look at John McCain, and how he's always calling others "my friend." Kind of makes me wonder. Is this just another juvenile Navy-like tongue-in-cheek joke?

I am sure that Senator Obama hasn't been following each local ad that comes out in Memphis, TN. He's got his hands full trying to seem humbly Presidential - whatever that means.

I support Obama and can understand his reluctance to
get involved in every race around the country, he has all he can do to try and stay ahead of the smears against him every day. I am glad he said the smear tactics Ms Tinker is using is unbecoming any candidate. I hope that the people of tennessee will see through this sort of attack campaign and look to
who will represent thier intrest and vote accordingly.
I would really hope that nothing would have to be said condeming such practices. It really reeks, Hope

Are all these Dems clamouring for Sen. Obama's help in the primaries for real? It's a no-win situation for him. If he sides with a white candidate, some black folks may accuse him of "selling out". If he sides with the black candidate, others, especially the repugnant talking heads will accuse him of siding with "his own"!
Sen. Obama is in the race of his life trying to save us from the doom of another 4 years of a Republican administration. All you Dems running in primaries ought to understand the situation and give him all the support you can, and not expect any back, at least not right now. Wake up already!

I have no respect for David Gregory whatsoever. He is one of the most over rated journalists on the scene today. I couldn't believe MSNBC gave him a TV show.

It is unfortunate that Tinker has chosen to run a racist campaign, but Obama has his hands full. The Bush/MCcain/Rove/Cheney re-election campaign couldn't wait to get the ad up for McCain showing Obama with the two young, white blondes. People might not have caught on except the Republicons have only one playbook that they pull their dirty tricks from.
They are very familiar to those of us who pay attention. Most recently they used the young white blonde girls with Harold Ford, the black candidate from Tennessee who narrowly lost his bid for Congress.
They exploit the racist biases of some of the white folk and when they are called on it, they turn it around and accuse you of playing the race card.
It's is a nasty game played by people who care a whole lot about achieving power and care not so much about our country or its people.

The reason why Obama doesn't want to stick his neck out on this one is not because the challenger is black. It's because the challenger is female and backed by Emily's List. The last thing Obama wants to do now is annoy Emily's List any more than he already has. But trust the media to cook this story to boiling point. The media is McCain's BASE.
