But won't the very name "Republican" irrevocably tarnish Obama with the inevitable associations that will be drawn to Cheney and Bush. I'm sure they have met with them closed meetings sometime in the past. Just being in the same room, or even the same party at one time, is intolerable.

Chaffee was a Republican? When? And Rita Hauser is what/who? Ditto for Leach?

You guys aren't going to believe this. A clip of McCain on the David Letterman show from October 18, 2001, was found by somebody, and its making the rounds today.

Here's an excerpt of part:

LETTERMAN: How are things going in Afghanistan now?

MCCAIN: "I think we're doing fine... I think we'll do fine. The second phase -- if I could just make one, very quickly -- the second phase is Iraq. There is some indication, and I don't have the conclusions, but some of this anthrax may -- and I emphasize may -- have come from Iraq."

LETTERMAN: "Oh is that right?"

MCCAIN: "If that should be the case, that's when some tough decisions are gonna have to be made."

Think about this for a minute. Does it strike anyone else as a bombshell?

First, we have McCain flatly announcing, on Letterman no less, that Iraq is a second phase of the war - in Oct 2001.

Then we have McCain announcing the speculation that Iraq may have been behind the anthrax attacks, and if so, "serious decisions" will follow.

If Iraq is already known by the neo-cons at this time as a second phase of the fighting, what exactly could be the serious decisions McCain is refering to?

The only answer that makes the least bit of sense is:

1) McCain was fully part of this neo-con plot to invade Iraq all along;

2) McCain wasn't supposed to say the decision to invade Iraq had been made (and probably had to turn in his neo-con decoder ring as a result of that gaffe);

3) McCain was supposed to start the process of building an artificial rationale for invading Iraq by announcing by making an association between that country and the anthrax attacks.

This is really shocking stuff, but can anyone else come up with a better explanation?

It is so refreshing to see Republicans as fired up about taking our country back, restoring our standing in the world and really addressing the hard issues that face us as a nation as the Democrats are. If Sen. Obama was a Republican, I would vote for him because I truly believe in the "urgency of now" and the forward path that he has outlined for our country.

If I was on the Board of Directors, I would not trust my corporation to be run by a 72 year old, physically limited, mentally questionable old, wrinkly dude who keeps getting the facts wrong. John McCain's resume is only thicker because he has been in Washington longer. He has been putting the same widget in the same peg for almost 30 years and has nothing to show for it except a bunch of lobbyists who expect to something in return for their hard earned money.

No more politics as usual; it has only gotten us in two failed wars and an economy that is likely to take a roller coaster ride every day.

My husband is a staunch Republican all of his life, so is every member of his family. I am an independent. For the first time in our 30 years of marriage he has changed his course after the Bush administration. We have been reading and watching everything political for the past year. The first time we saw Obama speak I did not say one word - my husband said this guy makes sense. Then after the third time we heard him speak, my husband turned around and said this is who I will back. I was shocked but it was my own sentiment also. And as time goes on, we are even more excited over Obama and extremely dismayed by McCain. There are a lot of Republicans that I know that will be supporting Obama. The change is happening now!!!!
