McCains base is not happy. this week he said he would consider a pro-choice vice president. At close door fundraisers he said he would consider raising taxes, I mean this guy says on thing in to his base and another behind closed doors

While we are struggling as Dems with the whole PUMA stuff; it is nice to see McCain is self-imploding on his side,...Go Huckabee! (not a fan; but if he can cause a rift, so be it!)

Did anyone else see David Shuster completely skewer Darragh Murphy (People United Means Action PAC, PUMA) and Will Bower (Just Say No Deal – co founder) last night on hardball? I know I said I wouldn’t comment further; but I have to point out that Darragh gave $500 to John McCain in 2000. AND PUMA has only raised $50,000. They both came off as the whiny, unhappy brats I’ve perceived them to be all along. WOW, by the commentary on this blog – I had a perception that PUMA was this gargantuan uprising. When, in fact, it is an angry Repub offshoot. Watch more if you choose:

McCain needs a strong conservative to shore up his base. Obama needs many things in a veep. However, he seems somewhat in a box. He said he's about changing Washington. How would he be able to pick somebody who has been in Washington for years? But, he also needs somebody with experience. It's likely his running mate will be seen as more qualified to be president than he is.

Seems like the base is never happy anyway, why try when they will just find something else to complain about.

No kidding they are not happy. Just heard on Countdown last night that ONE-FIFTH of the current rep senators are SKIPPING the convention! A bit unusual? eh?

Wow, I watch the Hardball section with Darragh Murphy the founder of PUMA Pac last night.

Not only did she seem disconnected, but she had a very hard time trying to articulate the reason behind the PUMAs.

Her pac has only raised $50,000 so the belief here that there are 18 Million PUMAs is just outragious!

She also admitted that she contributed $500 to McCain's 2000 bid. She kept refering to PUMA working for democratic values (note the small "d") and that even though she held strong Democratic views on healthcare, a woman's right to choice and other core Democratic issues -- she still insisted that if it wasn't Hillary than her PUMA's would vote McCain.

She refered to "stealing", "cheating", "back-room-dealing", and issues with Mich and Florida. But she really couldn't provide any details supporint her argument.

How pethetic!

Well, we'll see if McCain is really the manly man he makes himself out to be. Tom Ridge is the one he most likes and respects, most wants as his VP. If he is really Mr. Maverick--beholden only to his own principals -- Tom Ridge will be his running mate.
