I like First Read but some people are extremely long-winded and feel they have to blog a book when a few sentences should cover it. Get to he point.

Interesting that one blogger insisted that I had to be a liberal to quote Dylan while also thinking that Toby Keith is a Republican when, in fact, he's a registered Democrat. There are a whole lot of wrong assumptions made here.

I just happened to catch a clip of Tim Kaine on the MSNBC website today, talking about the Democratic Party standpoint on abortion. Wow! He hit the nail on the head. It is a relief to me to hear a Democrat ably explaining their position: that he personally opposes abortion, but is against criminalizing women and doctors for terminiating pregnancies, and thinks we should focus on reducing the numbers of unplanned pregnancies. What is it with Virginia politicians having the audacity to display common sense in today's political world? I am very impressed with Mark Warner too. THIS is the kind of leadership I want to see in November.

Read Frank Rich, NYT, yesterday, following up some thoughtful Rachel Maddow points Fri nite: Have we really looked at McCain?

1. Who owns John McCain? More than with any other candidate in recent memory, this needs to be examined. This last Georgian business is only the most recent---where has McCain been for years on issues that have dollar bills leading directly to him?
2. Judgment. Look at the post-9/11 conduct. He is a blowhard not only with no eye for detail or nuance, but who often gets 'the big picture' wrong as well.
3. Foreign policy blunders. See #2. By risking the debacle of the past 5+ years in Iraq, we can't afford many other true long-term security things (facing down Russia if truly needed, both with moral force as well as actually having allies, e.g.).
4. Temperment. Serious issue. This nutjob flies off the handle, and makes important decision based upon emotion.
5. Judgment, part two. He relies on 'advisors' even more than Mountain Bike Boy; and, he's worse at choosing them.

Journalists, take that hard look at Mr. Wrap Himself in the Flag, please.

I still don't think it's going to be Biden. He's such a loose cannon; I don't think Obama can afford that, let alone, biden is seen as a Washington Insider. Hard to run on "change" when you have a Washington Insider as a running mate. Nope. My bet is on Wes Clark. He can take on Mccain with the foreign policy deal and can criticize McCain's miltary record as Obama cannot. Clark is not considered an insider and bodes well for change. Mark my bet. It's Clark! I find it very humorous that Lieberman garnishes any consideration at all - if this came to pass it would be the most Liberal GOP ticket ever. With McCain's age during a potential 4 years of 72-76 (and much higher in 'actual age' due to Cancer and post war trama), there's a very real chance the VP would have to take over. If Ridge would upset the base what would Lieberman do- yikes!

Why not just tap Lindsey Graham or Charlie Christ, while they are at it- Oh, that's right it's ok to allign yourself and pander to well know closeted homosexuals - just not to nominate them to be the GOP Veep.

I don't see evidence that the Romney buzz is waning at all. Here's the excerpt missed:

Joe Biden for VP? This senator has spent the past two decades sponsoring and promoting federal habeas (2254)legislation that would abolish capital punishment and render the states' criminal sentencing statutes unenforceable. (I have personally debated Biden on this point.) An Obama-Biden ticket would delight every criminal in the nation.
As for abortion. Well, murdering babies for the financial convenience of their parents is an idea that should have died with the Third Reich. An "unwanted" pregnancy is a pregnancy that the parents do not want to deal with for monetary reasons or because the child might be born with a physical defect, thereby making him or her of little value to the "state". Of course, Obama also advocates cutting off medical services to persons over the age of 75. Thus, we can kill the elderly and abort the physically infirm. What is next? Zyklon B showers for undesirables? How about "soylent green"?

I personally suggest Richardson first then Biden. Both of them have a great deal of foreign policy experience. Richardson has the possibility to bring in the Spanish speaking communities which could be a major plus for the campaign.
