Anyone on this blog knows I am a staunch Obama supporter; but I agree with this statement. There is such a thing as controlling your message, media, etc. but I think he is way overplaying his hand on this Veep pick. The kids are back in school and many of us are ready to take our platform and start pinging the issues. All of this media hype is stale and overstated. We are going to win this thing on issues, so let’s get it on.

I just read someone else say McCain doesn’t take vacations; yet in the article they responded to – it explicitly stated he is on vacation. That’s what we mean on this blog when we say low information voter. You are entitled to your opinion; but not your facts. Considering we are talking about Iraq, can we start discussing McCain's agreement that we may need to reinstitute the draft. This is a big deal and it needs to be talked about in the media.
In my mind, even considering the draft as potentially in our future discloses McCain's mindset. He invisions the U.S. in conflict after conflict. If he gets into office, he will chase various wars around the world. He knows he can't fix any of our domestic problems, so he will try to keep the spotlight on the military and defense issues. We have serious problems and we need serious leaders to manage them. I cringe every time I hear McCain speak. It's like watching a train wreck over and over again.

If the Clintons who are still trying to kiss and make up to the African Americans and others they may have offended, so does everyone else. Still of topic here but has to be said none-the-less!

When any legislation brought by the Dems to fix things in the senate or congress (oil drilling, health care, economics issues) The Repukes vote it down or if it passes, Bush vetos it.
Take the last piece of legislation that would have forced the Oil Companies to start drilling where they are allowed to. The Repukes voted it down. They can start drilling for Oil at anytime but all the Oil Companies want is just more land. Put the blame where blame is due, The Repuking Party. Congress has a low rating because of the Repukes, not the Dems. Do some real research.

First Read may be suggesting by these Biden anecdotes that Biden is the nearest likeness to McCain and is therefore needed to balance the ticket. Lily, Obama never was upset at Biden's clean and articulate comment, taken in context, it was intended as high praise for Obama. The only people I know of who were upset were Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, because it was clear form the statement that Biden didn't think either were mainstream. Of course that was the truth.

With respect to the comment about is Obama ready to be President right now, which I think he was asked during the ABC debate on August 19, 2007 in Des Moines, or possibly the 9/26/07 NH debate, whether he still stood by that statement. He replied to the effect "I think I do" Big deal, given what others in the race had said. and it's been almost a year (or over if it was the Des Moines debate)since he said it.
