I'd like to take this at face value. Unfortunately, the pattern of the McCain campaign thusfar leads me to another conclusion: this is designed to make Senator Obama to look ungracious when he attacks McCain in his acceptance speech (regardless of the fact that the speech was written long before this ad premiered.) Tomorrow, the McCain campaign will loudly complain that "John McCain spent a lot of money to congratulate Senator Obama, and what does he get in return? Insults and attacks!" In fact, I'm willing to bet the press release tomorrow reads exactly like that. And the MSM will eat it up, repeating it on -air ad infinitum, weakly questioning McCain surrogates about it so they can repeat the charge yet again. By this time next week, any Democratic response to statements made at the GOP convention (i.e., anything resembling what the Republicans jsut did at the DNC), will be met with the mantra of "The ungracious Obama campaign has no class!"

In short, it's a trap. The McCain people want to paint Obama's folks as ungrateful young punks.

No, those 4000+ did not die in vain. They fought and died for themselves and their buddies who they loved and vowed to protect when placed in harms way. And I can assure you. When pinned down and surrounded by terrorists lobbing grenades and shooting rockets at your unit those grunts will fight their ass off while quickly asking themselves two questions 1) what the hell am I doing here and 2) how the hell do I save my butt and my buddies and get us out of this mess.

You better stand down Sgt. You speak to one who has been there and done that, and who would be willing to do so again even at this age. But by God not under a government or administration who commands I go and fight under fu--ing false pretenses.

And one more thing Sgt. Don't tell me we had to eliminate Saddam Hussein because he was a terrible dictator who murdered his own people and we had to free those poor innocents when you have other cruel warlords and dictators throughout the world and especially in Africa savagely murdering and starving millions of women and children. Well, that was nice of McCain. I'm glad you think it's "perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day" considering you couldn't bring yourself to vote for MLK day in Arizona.

I wonder if there's a parallel here between McCain being slow to realize King's greatness and his being slow in realizing just about everything else.

At some point, kindness MUST beget kidness. We will take Senator McCain's ad as a sincere reciprocal decent gesture as Presidential Nominee Barack Obama remained a class act . However, we know that throughout this campaign we will have to separate the authentic from the insincere-there are some very good political actors out here in both parties. The Clintons did their part. Hillary recognize she did not and could not win and stopped the role call. Bill in particular made his comments short, accurate and sweet-no self aggrandizement there. He brought it down the field when emphasizing Impressions are made not by the examples of our power, but the power of our examples. Vice Presidential nominee Biden was the grounded individual we need to support our leader and Kerry is continuing the good fight he started during our last presidential election cycle. There are so many true Democratic troopers soldiering on by sticking to the party tenants and also honoring the troops, some of our true heroes as the fight is in the war and right here in America too.

Yes, this is a historic event! Michelle Obama, Esquire kicked it off and Democratic presidential nominee, Barrack Obama will get it done! Together their integrity, intellect, forthrightness, humbleness, exposure and sound judgment will see them through to the presidency.

PS The fodder about Mile High's stage set are soooooooooo juvenile-It depicts some of the White House scenery the Obamas will soon occupy-Can you say presidential....Obamas team don't let them divert you from your Game!

McCain congratulates Obama in new ad

Apparently Mr. McCain doesn't realize that a day is a 24 hour period, in his ad he states "Sen. Obama, this is truly a good day for America. Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed, So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we'll be back at it. But tonight senator, job well done."

Okay ignoring that McCain voted against making MLK birthday a federal holiday, which to many calls into question the importance he places on "this historic day", but on the same day he sends his little attempt at feel good, according to an earlier First Read post McCain's "campaign released a Web video hit against Obama that’s reminiscent of one he unveiled against Romney before the New Hampshire primary. It contains images of violence and terrorism and questions Obama’s ability to lead."

The man's a hypocrite and is in grave danger of losing support among independents who liked the John McCain of 2000. Was that guy in 2000 real? Has he really sold his soul to win, or was he always such a scumbag.
