He's hoping that they're so angry that they won't notice Palin is anti-choice and that McCain himself is not only anti-choice but also opposes protection of women's rights to equal pay for equal work. Who knows? It just might work. You'll never go broke underestimating the rationality of American voters.

Hillary Clinton fought for universal healthcare for years, won a Senate race, almost won a bruising primary, just gave a speech that was better than any man's at that convention...and they compare HER to a former beauty queen with less than two years experience as a Governor? How stupid does he think we women are? The only reason he has picked her is because he thinks women are like cattle, and he will be able to herd our votes because she is a woman. She has less experience than Obama, that is like putting a family doctor who is 2 years out of med school as Chief Surgeon of a major Hospital! It totally demonstrates the lack of respect McCain has for women and the fact he thinks our intelligence level is even less.
Well, I want to thank you Mr. John McCain, you have just made my decision for me. I was going to exercise my right to NOT vote in this election because I just couldn't back Obama's lack of experience into the white house. However, I can not risk my vote not counting and someone who has been a state governor for 2 years to possibly become president. But now, this Hillary supporter will be Voting OBAMA/BIDEN in 08.

Maybe he is too old for the office; I cannot support this ticket as a Romney supporter. Governor Huckabee at least has been truly tested and shown he, too, had a lot of support. I am voting for Bob Barr as of today, though I know it will probably mean 4 years of Barack Obama.

McCain is 72 today and has a history of cancer and severe emotional trauma for five years. Faced with a Republican juggernaut in Ronald Reagan, a desperate Mondale sought to get some traction with a woman who was a first-term legislator. After last night's speech, I suspect McCain's success will rival Mondale's. Let's be clear: Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton, despite McCain's obvious motive in choosing her.

If he intended to pick up the disgruntled HRC supporters, the plan looks a bit flawed: 1) after last night (& the convention as a whole), there aren't that many left; 2) while no Dan Quayle, Palin is no HRC; 3) most will recognize that the Repubs had no women candidates for Pres. (unlike the Dems in 84-I think that was the year Shroeder ran); and, finally, 4) what does this do to a 72 yo McCain's experience attack on BO, if he chooses someone this unexperienced to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.
