I can't believe the commentators on today's Meet the Press failed to mention ONCE the well-documented issues that are critical to "change". is creationsism "change", aligning with the NRA "change", drilling in Anwar "change"??? Unfortunately Hurricane Gustav may further prove that more drilling in the Gulf might be a recipe for record oil spills instead of an energy solution. McCain has also stated that the oil rigs in the Gulf did not suffer any damage from Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

In addition to the 7 to 9 million gallons of oil spilled from damaged pipelines, refineries and storage tanks onshore.

According to the May 2006 report by the U.S. Minerals Management Service. 113 platforms were totally destroyed, and, more importantly, 457 pipelines were damaged, 101 of those major lines with 10" or larger diameter. At least 741,000 gallons were spilled from 124 reported sources (the Coast Guard calls anything over 100,000 gallons a "major" spill). No word from the Oil companies if they plan to rebuild these oil rigs.

Despite the the party buisness. I think this is great news. I think it would not be wise not to celebrate while close to a million americans are displaced from their homes. It also has to be mentioned that there were people in the republican party who openedly called on people to pray for rain when Barac Obama anounced that he would be excepting his nomination in an open roof stadium. Funny how things turned out.

McCain went to New Orleans this year and got away with a big con job. McCain faulted Bush for not being present in New Orleans during the disaster. In fact, Bush spent at least a few minutes of that time with John McCain, celebrating McCain's birthday. During his trip to New Orleans, McCain also talked about the assistance New Orleans needed. In fact, McCain voted against appropriations that were for hurricane relief. McCain voted against an investigation into mismanagement of Katrina too.

The picture of McCain and Bush holding the birthday cake during Katrina is all over the net. If John McCain gets away with going to New Orleans and running another con job, the net will be furious and word will trickle out to the rest of the population about how much the media covers up for McCain. Please, at least run the birthday cake picture. It would be better to also point out the con job McCain ran on his last trip to New Orleans and what McCain's real record is.

A couple of weeks ago Focus on the Family asked politically-conservative Christians to pray for rain on Aug. 28, in order to disrupt Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention. Stuart Shepard called for “abundant rain, torrential rain … flood-advisory rain...I’m talking about umbrella-ain’t-gonna-help-you rain … swamp-the-intersections rain.” Despite this despicable plea, the Denver skies were clear and the weather was wonderful.

Yesterday noon (hawaii time) I sent in a blog that cited some of Sarah Palins experience. No trash talking, no bomb throwing, just a more supportive post than most at that time. So far as I can tell, it never got posted. Yet, in one of the blogs above we read,

Then again, your intstructions for posting a message here state, "please, no HTML tags. Web addresses will be hyperlinked". Maybe I misunderstood. I thought 'no HTML tags' meant you could NOT post links like "Lyn, MD" did above.

I was hopeful that equal treatment would be given to both points of view on the Palin candidacy. I guess that was a false hope

I guess "Antichrist" Dobson never heard the saying "Careful what you ask for, for you may get it and it may not be what you thought it would be"! I am so laughing that Mother Nature is blowing away the RNC Freak Show while she gave Obama the perfect weather for his perfect speech.

I'm sure that many who won't be attending are oh so glad that Gustav is saving them from major embarassment. I love how the MSM is spending so much time reporting on Gustav instead of on the boring business in St. Paul this week. I know I won't waste one nanosecond watching the boring nonsense from the RNC. So much more interesting stuff to watch, like replays of Obama's perfect speech.

Only Obama/Biden will bring honesty and integrity back to the White House!

The contrast between how the Obama and the McCain camp conduct themselves is astonishing. McCain's is disorganized and unfocused. Obama's runs like a well oiled machine.
I think that McCain's temperament, lack of management skill and poor judgment is taking a toll. I think his people are afraid of making him angry if they tell him is is making a mistake. It is scary how this could impact the country. It is more of the same mismanagement. I wasn't surprised to read that GOP leaders were worried.
Obama is newer on the scene but he has managed to skillfully lead his camp. His experience as an organizer is serving him very well. The choices he has made in life as well as publicly are thoughtful, wise and in the nation's interest. He has clear foresight as well as a noble vision. He has assembled an extremely effective team to advise him. His cabinet would be amazing. He has reunited a divided party. We hope he can reunite a divided nation.
Regardless of his experience in government he has shown himself to be an amazing manager as well as a once in a lifetime leader. That is what we need.
McCain is sorely lacking in these skills. He runs on honor but has not been loyal to his ex wife when she needed him most. His poor temperament is well known. He cannot even draw a crowd. A leader needs followers.

There is no place, during a crisis, for officials to be giving tours to preening candidates. Just like Bush, it's only for a major photo-op to make them seem to care. They didn't give a rat's behind three years ago, either. McCain also voted against all the funding after Katrina. They are all phonies who look down their noses at us disposable peons.

As for McCain's choice for VP, at first, I thought it had to be April 1st. Since that's not the case, it proves we need to submit him to a competency hearing.

I, also, was distressed that Maria's gushing about Palin's energy credentials failed to even touch on climate change--more drilling,more oil, more CO2. I believe Palin is one of 3 people who still believe global warming is a hoax. So, of course, she is in favor of drill,drill,drill.

And, again, QuickDraw McGraw goes where he shouldn't--this time to the Gulf to get in the way of the evacuation/preparations. They are busy and now have to worry with protection of a candidate.

I can't help but point out the irony of a humorist from the ultra-conservative Focus on the Family religious group asking supports to perform a rain dance to create "rain of biblical proportions" during Obama's outdoor acceptance speech and then have hurricane Gustav provide those rains of biblical proportions during the Republican Convention providing a clear reminder of the failed Bush response to hurricane Katrina.
