I for one don't want to talk about the kids, but McCain did a very poor job of vetting Palin and has shown poor judgement in this matter.

He caved into the extreme right wing of the party and is the most right wing candidate i have seen in a while. This combined with her lack of experience and her baggage (no not the kid) troppergate and supporting a party that wanted Alaska to succeed from the union draws into question McCain judgement.

The McCain camp said the FBI did a background check. I heard this weekend the FBI says it didn't.

The McCain camp said they knew about the ethics investigation and teen-age pregnancy. Then why didn't they control the release of information? Think about how much differently the media would be treating these revelations if they had come from the McCain camp as something "we've looked at and determined not to be important" rather than something reporters and bloggers are digging up on their own.

The way this has been handled tells me they didn't know anything about her.

It seems like just a knee-jerk decision from a guy who tends to make knee-jerk decisions, and who was disappointed he couldn't get either of the two guys he really wanted.

The details of the pregnancy, however, seem to me to have nothing but purient value. Imagine being a high school junior and the details of your sex life is suddenly national discussion. There is more info coming out of Alaska every minute, and it's much more important to our nation's interests than an unfortunate personal family matter. There is simply NO WAY that Sarah Palin was vetted in a manner appropriate for a vice-presidential candidate. Rick Davis is also quoted as stating that the FBI had done a check as part of the vetting process, and the FBI stated that they had done no such thing- it simply isn't done for VP candidates.

Bottom line is this: Do we Americans want John McCain to handle a national crisis in the manner in which he appears to have selected his running mate- on an impulse, for a quick political gain, with apparently very little research done ahead of time?

Not very well. Nicolle Wallace, a senior strategist for the McCain campaign, tried to defend John McCain's pick on Morning Joe this morning, 9/2. In the end, her conclusion was "this election was not about experience, but JUDGMENT!" I think this is exactly what Barack Obama has been saying since the the day he won the Iowa caucus. It is about JUDGMENT, ladies and gentlemen. Without the judgment, it really doesn't matter what kind of experience you have.

For example, our current president, who is running this great country into the drain, was a two-term governor of Texas. For another example, there is a list of great presidents (democrats or republicans) who have never been in the executive position prior to their presidency.

As for John McCain, I personally do question his judgment, about his decisions on voting with Bush more than 90% of the time, going into a war without giving UN a chance to investigate, cutting taxes for the wealthy, passing on Tom Ridge and selecting a right winger for his running mate, and kneeling down to the right wings. What happened to the maverick that we saw in 2000? I guess politics can easily manipulate a person and this is what's going on with John McCain. Too Bad....

A total lack of judgment. This from candidate Mcliar who told us how dangerous todays world is, and how Barack Obama was not experienced enough to lead. He also told us how a candidate's selction of V.P. would indicale what kind of judgment they had. After months of pounding Obama they now tell us that being on the PTA and running a smll.5,000 pop., town plus 1 1/2 years as governor or our smallest state are more than enough to qualify Palin as commander and chief in this dangerous world. Mcliar is not fit to be president.

2 possibilities, both horrible.

Option 1: McCain failed to perform the most important job of a Presidential candidate by not properly vetting Palin. This looks exceedingly likely. Despite months to decide, this looks like a last-minute decision after his political handlers made him pick again and he didn't like the remaining properly vetted alternatives. This option reveals his subservience to the far-right, his poor management ability, and his poor priorities.

Option 2: McCain actually thinks Palin is the best person in the country to help him govern and govern in his place after a thorough vetting. In Palin's limited time in the limelight, she has triggered an investigation for abuse of power, hired an alleged sexual harasser to run the Department of Public Safety (including the Council on Sexual Assault), joined and continued to support a fringe-secessionist party. This option shows that McCain's priorities and judgement are completely out of line with most Americans.

If anyone needs to ask the question "How well was she vetted..." then I suggest you learn how to read and write.

If this isn't as clear cut a case of poor judgment, well I don't think I will ever know what is.

Putting aside her daughter pregnant and her husband with the DUI. None of that is relevant. What is relevant is that J-Mac made a shoot from the hip move to get some attention, and boy did he get more than he asked for.

Good luck J-Mac, and thanks for showing your experience and good judgment.

Oh and one more thing... for all of the people on the Right who have praised J-Mac's decision on Palin, you have officially convinced me that the Republican Party is not a political party, it is in fact a cult.

First Read, knock it off already... The fact that she has a pregnant teen-aged daughter is NOT news, it is salacious gossip. But this IS news...

-the fact that she's being investigated by the State of Alaska on charges of abuse of power, involving SEVERAL instances where according the special prosecutor in which she may have been complicit, which are substantially more serious that she had first led the McCain camp to believe IS news.(abuse of power/dishonesty)

- the fact that Gov. Palin has taken $27 million in earmarks IS news; (pandering/corruption)

-the fact that Gov. Palin was the DIRECTOR of indicted Sen. Ted Stevens' 527 and raised millions for him, IS news; (corrupt)

-the fact that Gov. Palin ran up a $20 million debt when she was mayor of a small town IS news.(misuse of authority)

- The fact that Gov. Palin was a member of the Buchanan Brigade IS news. (Anti-Semitic conservative, Nazi sympathizer)

- the fact that Gov. Palin is a member of Alaskans for Independence Party IS news;(sedition/treason)

-the fact that Gov. Palin is a NeoPentacostal Dominionist which is a church that preaches purging the Earth of all non-Christians by a specially anointed army of God (starting with the Jews), IS news; (religious fanaticism)

-The fact that as a teen Gov. Palin played a leading role as a member of said army (Joel's Army or the Army of the Third Wave-which most Christian theologians consider heretical in nature) IS news....

All these negative reaction from the left just shows how nervous they are and what a "checkmate" McCain has offered.
Even today Obama himself was comparing his experience to RNC #2 pick. How sad that is and he still got his facts wrong. He was comparing experience as running a campaign to Governor’s 2 year executive.
But the issue here is that media does have time to go after VP’s daughter pregnancy issue but did not have time to investigate Edwards affair story when he was campaigning! They also don’t want to investigate Obama’s (#1 pick) connection to Ayers and his earmarks for Biden’s son.

I think Sarah is the winner here.
