Thompson was a joke, as was his speech.

that speech wouldn't stand up to a high school logic course with all of its fallacies: begging the question on McCain's leadership and character, straw man arguments of Obama's tax plan, and displacement of his own inability to speak in public onto Obama. those are just off the top of my head from what i remember.

great rhetoric and divisive politics though, and a very passionate overgrandizing of the suffering McCain endured as a POW, much of which is contrary to other accounts of the story.

This night of the convention was an absolute joke when stood up against the Dem convention, and i pray that fear and ignorance don't rule this election.

Did any one watch the VFW convention last night...Where was Chuck Yeager?
John Glenn or Colon Powell to mention a few...?
Looks like Same "Old" Politics..Betting on the future with horses that went to pasture years ago.
And the "Change" that offered is a bullet info. with no real plan of how to change..
Half baked ideas by phony politicians..that say they can do something for our future because the did something in their past...Same "OLD" horse puckie politics..
And Gov. Palin your being used by "Big Oil" for "Big Oil" and your to stupid to tell anyone the truth..or are you part of the game too...

Also, "Thompson accused Obama of delivering a 'Teleprompter speech designed to appeal to America's critics abroad'" - though Thompson, himself, was using a Teleprompter last night.

Weren't the republicans large and in charge of all levers of government on 911? You know what, Bush, Cheney and yes, John Mccain, failed miserably to protect America that day...they should have been brought up on treason charges but at the very least they shouldn't be celebrated as heroes on 911..they were ZEROS

Last night everyone looked the same; old and gray. Bush looked stupid.

Country does matter to Obama. You LIE-berman are a turncoat, and McCain’s brain.
Why would you lie about Gustav, as his mind, why didn’t you intelligently explain to the public that McCain and Bush in their actions about Gustav were to save face? At a town hall-style meeting in Xavier University, the nation’s only predominately black Roman Catholic university, Senator McCain vowed that HIS White House would not repeat the Bush administration’s performance in Katrina. Then LIE-berman why didn’t you whisper in McCain’s ear—but you vetoed 5 times against funding for Katrina, you’re not making a credible argument. When you say… “I promise you, never again,’’. You’d better not forget or break another promise or lie.
LIE-berman you told another lie (again). You lied by saying that Senator Obama never reached across the aisle (so did actor Fred Thompson) that lie is of great significance.
What did McCain do for immigration and ethics reform? He voted against them. Have you forgotten that in September 2006, Obama supported a bill, Secure Fence Act of 2006, then; Obama introduced two initiatives bearing his name: "Lugar–Obama, does the fact that Lugar is a Republican ring a bell for you?

One more caveat… The Honorable John McCain (oops Dis-Honorable)United States Senator replied to Senator Obama in this fashion when Senator Obama wrote to your Sacred Heart, John McCain regarding lobbying and ethics reform proposals by replying in his letter…
“As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your party's effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier DISINGENUOUSNESS. Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isn't always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.”
