Joe Biden wasn't well known to me prior to his pick as Obama's VP...I wish I'd been watching him all along. He is the average man, with a working class background, who came up the hard way to his success. I was incredibly impressed with his speech at the DNC, and am continuing to enjoy his relaxed and competent way of handling the issues. I also applaud him for pointing out the MAIN THING missing from Sarah Palin's speech...the ISSUES. Her speech was an attack, and not a clever one, without substance behind it. I know no more about her today than I did yesterday, especially not where she really stands.

As far as the personal attacks against her, I believe EVERY CANDIDATE has experienced that, regardless of gender. You step into the spotlight, you can't complain of the glare.

Obama really did "hit it out of the park" with his choice of a running mate, and I hope - for the future of my children and the security of our nation - that Obama and Biden take the election in November...they certainly have MY VOTE.

It's laughable how many people on here today are criticizing Palin's speech as hateful and nasty ...

These bloggers are the same ones who praise Obama's message of hope, change, and togetherness, and then spend their time online turning the Red v. Blue argument into a mud slinging war. So the republican leadership is cruel and devisive, and that's wrong ... but the enitre democratic base is allowed to verablly abuse everything in its path? Yeah ... OK ... I can see how that makes sense. ?? No. You supporters are the reason I don't buy into Obama. You praise his message, then go out and do the opposite.

On an offnote, the funniest thing in the world to me is that half of America says, "I'm so tired of those ignorant Republicans" or "I'm so tired of those ignorant Democrats" without even realizing that the other half of the country is saying the opposite. And there are very intelligent and very stupid people on both sides of it. It's a beautiful road to nowhere, so enjoy the scenery no matter who gets elected.

Palin's speach was very offensive as well as Guiliani. She offended Community organizers and people who work very hard at the grassroots, including those who worked during the sufferage movement. She offended Obama supporters as mindless followers. Guiliani offended muslims. and in my opinion Fred Thompson offended African Americans by belittling the historic nature of Obama's candidcy as the first African American to be nominated by a major party. This is the ole rope a dope if I have ever seen it. They have no position on helping this country nor do they care so they attack attack and attach..just a few thoughts about Barack's so called belittled Community organizer. It was made up of eight Catholic parishes when he got there and had one staff member. He was its director, meaning he was in charge. More important, he created a job training program for this community and a college prep tutoring program.

As mayor, she built a hockey rink/rec center using eminent domain (because apparently there just isn't enough land in Alaska).

And keep in mind the timeline here: Obama did this as a young man BEFORE going to law school, becoming a successful lawyer and a law professor.

I don't think it's right to attack someone for working in a faith-based charity out of college. I think we all have some embarrassing first-jobs in our past. I would not make fun of Palin for being a beauty queen and sports reporter out of college during these same years. Although, I do think Obama's experience shaped his political future a bit better ... So while Obama was helping to get people jobs and left themselves out of poverty. Sara Palin was a pageant girl... And they want to belittle Obama.. PLEASE!!!!

Let's look at Joe Biden's judgment. He firmly stated in the primaries that Obama is not ready to lead our country ("The presidency is not a place for on-the-job training" paraphrase). When asked later if he meant it, he confirmed that he did. Then he loses in the primaries. Then Obama picks him for the VP slot and all of a sudden Obama has all the knowledge and wit to lead our country according to Biden. Does this not show that Biden is both self-serving and completely inconsistent. When he wants to win, he'll say whatever to put down his opponent. But once defeated, if that opponent chooses him, he'll say whatever is needed to promote him. Is that good judgment for a VP? If your argument is that he's just playing typical political games, then fine. But please spare us all the hype about how this democratic ticket brings a "new" kind of politics to our country.

The left just doesn't get it...the reason that Palin did not speak about healthcare and education is because the country does NOT want government intrusion into these issues...the country does NOT want a bigger government!

The reason middle class did not pass the lips of Palin is because Republicans do not believe in class warfare as the Democrats have built their entire platform upon! She spoke eloquently about small business and economic issues that face the country as a whole involving all classes.

As to one line zingers...each was based upon the truth of Obama and what he has held up as his experience. This is not personal this is about issues and experience which are fair game, as opposed to the incredible personal attacks thrust upon Gov Palin.

The liberal left should be fearful because they are being called on the fear mongering and class warfare that they have based their candidacy.

Obama is a barrier breaking candidate , who will stand tall along with Biden no matter what Palin smears at them. Biden shows class and will attack Palin on facts and issues. All Palin did last night is smear Obama and Biden with no foundation under her speech. Never did she address the middle class or disadvanged americans. Palin simply lied about her record while using whithering attacks on Obama's community organizer, senator, author experience. Sure, Palin can read a well scripted speech from a telepromter, but the true test will be the debates. I have no doubt Biden will do great. Palin speech was delivered as it was meant to be. SCRIPTED. She is clearly tough , but Jo Biden does not need to treat her with kid gloves and she hasn't debated with Biden before. Boy is she gonna get it on Oct 2nd! Unfortunately for Gov Palin & the Republicans, this is not a personality contest. I would expect Gov Palin to be well-received at the Republican convention by a room full of republican supporters. That's a no-brainer. I agree with Senator Biden that her speech was not substantive with respect to the issues that are concerning American voters. It was plagued with one-line zingers & personal attacks on Senator Obama. I looked at those people filling the halls and thought, my God, they do represent the diverse America we live in and they seem far removed from the day-to-day issues affecting the lives of American voters. Not only are the Republicans refusing to take ownership of the significant amount of issues that have occurred or worsened during the last 8 years under their leadership.., they haven't even bothered to recognize them via their convention speeches. How is assasinating Obama's character & experience going to help the economy? I'm not impressed with Gov Palin...she represents more of the same and frankly, she seems to be a pawn.
