I asked yesterday, whom I complain to if Obama loses. My first group to ask would be the media. Let’s face it, you are citizens too and you each have one vote. You too would suffer under a McGrouch-Palin administration. You too would be part of the great American decline. You too would suffer through many mistakes. You would not just be reporting, commenting or pontificating all of this, you would be suffering just like your fellow citizens.

So why are you so weak and intimidated? Why do you puff your chest out with righteous indignation? Why do you succumb to lies, deceit and pandering? Don’t you wish to see a better America? Will you feel any remorse when we are in the toilet? Are you so pompous and conceited that you could care less what happens? Don’t you see that you have become elitist Republican ‘ownership’ minions? Will you too say to the rest of us who suffer, “you’re on your own?”

Well, we have a saying for you media. Maybe you heard it before. “Have you no shame?”

John McCain asks me to trust him, and you might think an old fart like me would be comfortable with such an experienced military man in charge. Actually the thought of McCain as commander-in-chief makes me decidedly ill at ease. Or maybe just plain ill. I have no doubt that he’s sincere when he says he wants to spread democracy and freedom throughout the world, but I’m sorry, as a tactician the guy’s a world class screw-up.

We’re supposed to view the ‘success’ of the surge as evidence of his good judgment? Please, it was an obvious Hail Mary that only succeeded to the limited extent that it did because we finally caught a break on a combination of factors outside our control. For those of you unfamiliar with the game of American football, a Hail Mary pass is a last-ditch low-percentage desperation play that you are forced to try when your strategy for the game has failed and you’re out of time. The quarterback just throws a long ball down the field into a crowd and hopes one of his guys manages to come down with it. If we trust Coach McCain to call the plays, get used to watching our future hang in the balance as one Hail Mary after another floats on the breeze. Just look at his process for picking a Vice President as the most recent prime example.

John McCain came out of his horrendous experience in Vietnam without learning the central take-away lesson. We had no business intervening there militarily in the first place. Southeast Asian nations were not in fact a row of dominos ready to fall in line with a global communist world order. As soon as our involvement ended, the Vietnamese started squabbling with communist China and in a relatively short time we became trading partners. We went into Vietnam based on a faulty Cold War mindset to fight a people whose culture and history we did not understand. When you don’t learn from your mistakes, you are doomed to repeat them.

Immediately after 9/11 John McCain began pushing military options. “It isn’t just Afghanistan,” he said the day after the attacks, “we’re talking about Syria, Iraq, Iran, perhaps North Korea, Libya and others.” He quickly settled on Iraq, of all places, as the next target and was pushing for an invasion of Iraq six months before the Bush White House began its campaign of misinformation. And so we went into Iraq based on a faulty War on Terror mindset to fight a people whose culture and history we did not understand. The Sunni awakening in Anbar, which started before surge troops arrived, consisted of local Sunnis finally getting fed up with the foreign Islamic terrorists they had only tolerated because they shared a common enemy in the American invaders. Al Qaeda in Iraq is entirely the creation of master tacticians like John McCain and his squadron of neocon think-tank wonders.

No, I can’t trust John McCain as commander-in-chief. It is precisely his experience, and the fact that he failed to learn the proper foreign policy lessons from it, that disqualifies him from serious consideration. I would only vote for him in the category of Most Likely to Get Us into Another Unnecessary and Disastrous War. Now we can add Russia to John’s list of countries just begging for military confrontation. The world is full of them. We need cooler heads to prevail in the 21st century, and I’m afraid Mr. McCain is much too eager to pick a fight.

"Airhead" Palin showed her ignorance with Charlie Gibson even though he tossed her nothing but softball questions. She didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine is and she just faked her answer. She has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that she's not ready to be a VP candidate nor is she ready to be the VP or POTUS despite her lying answer that she is.

Looks like "Airhead" Palin won't be doing any more interviews as all they will do is show how unprepared she is. She'll have to hide behind her male master and speak only when she's given the script of what to say.

Only Obama/Biden will bring intelligence and real science back to the White House!

I saw an ad last night in Colorado, despite McCain's true with Obama. I think McCain really has no honor and class whatsoever, and I think that is the way he will deal with our allies by breaking agreements. He is very much the same as Bush, so why would voters allow themselves to be deceived by another Bush?
Personally, I would prefer the arrogant Bush to win a 3rd term than to see McCain and his highly incompetent VP win the presidency with so much imcompetence and misleading attacks on their opponents.

1. Palin said she's always believed global warming was contributed by man. FALSE! - she said last year to a reporter that she's no doom and gloom Al Gore, and doesn't buy into the environmentalist claim man is warming the earth.

2. Palin, who never before met a head of state, said this is common of prior VP's before their election. FALSE! - she would be the very first VP to have never before met with a head of state.

3. Palin maintains she was against the Bridge to Nowhere. FALSE! - she ran for Governor supporting the Bidge, and only opposed it after she got elected, yet, she still kept the money congress sent.

4. Palin claims Alaska's proximity to Russia makes her ready to be president. FALSE! The most remote, uninhabittated portion of Russia may be accross the Bearing the Straights, but this by no means makes her a wiz on foreign policy when it comes to Russia.

Palin is lying threw her lipsticked pitbull piggy mouth.

The Press must be relentless on calling her out on her lies.

I believe it is an issue. President Bush made it clear that he wasn't that big on reading. Now we have McCain who isn't that big on the internet or computer literacy.

What's the big deal?

It demonstrates a lack of intellectual curiousity...and it may also demonstrate linear thinking...an inability to think of a new approach to an old problem or to be one step ahead of the game.

The reason why college educated whites prefer Obama is clear: They are not as influenced by the sound bites of fear and smear. The issues are what matters to them.

With regards to the computer literacy of one or the other: It indicates how ready one is for change, and how resistant the other is to it. We are now in a computer age and it would behove us to become just slightly computer literate. For John McCain, it should be easy to find someone to give him a lesson or two. Oh! I forgot. McCain isn't so good at lessons, as evidenced by his class standing: 894 out of 899.

That might be another appeal to those who value learning: Obama is an accomplished student.

I, for one want an intellegent, thoughtful person in the presidency. NO WAY, NO HOW, NO MCSTUPID.

Yes!!! They teach computer classes in schools now. Students in middle school have access to computers. In some districts students can do home schooling via the internet. We live in a global economy. Not an isolated economy. Look at your own first read. That's on the internet. If McCain doesn't understand the very basics of how to operate a computer (like the difference between the rodent mouse and the mouse for your computer), how can he be expected to lead us in this global economy?

Here is one thing I just don't understand. For decades the republican party has been arguing agaist affirmative action, against quota based hiring, against quota based admissions and against what it sees as preferencial treatment givin to minorities and women. They claim that people should be evaluated solely on the basis of their merit and ability. Then we get Governor Sarah Quaylin and all the republicans can argue is that it is sexist to criticize her record, it is sexist to ask hard questions, her gender is the reason why people should vote for her, and as the comedian rush limbaugh says "we have the babe on our ticket". What happened to the merit-based argument of republicans? What happened to voting based on ability? As an aside, if sarah Quaylin can't handle the heat of this campaign (exemplifed by the manufactured pseudo outrage over the the lipstick comment) then how can she possibly handle the pressure of standing up to Putin, Kim Jong Ill, Ahmadenijad? If she can't handle softballs from Obama she won't be able to defend us against real terrorists.

Two weeks ago Obama wanted a UN Security council resolution to Russia’s attack on Georgia. Apparently Obama was not aware that Russia has veto power. Considering he touts himself as a member of the Senate’s Foreign Relations committee he should be well aware of Russia’s veto power.
And here’s Obama on Palin two days BEFORE her speech at the RNC, “My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.” To be fair Obama was asked to compare his experience to hers. But one wonders why he didn’t compare his senate experience with her governor experience which has a budget of $11 Billion and 29,000 employees. And besides doesn’t he have a campaign manager?

I think you missed something in Gov. Palins answer to the "Bush Doctrine" questions from Charlie Gibson:

PALIN: Charlie, if there is legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country. In fact, the president has the obligation, the duty to defend.

The right to strike first in the case of an IMMINENT threat has been well established for years in International Relations and is not controversial. The whole point of the Bush Doctrine was to go beyond "pre-emption" to "preventive war," in which we reserved the right to strike first against an potential and emerging enemy IN THE ABSENCE OF an imminent threat. That is the whole point of the Bush Doctrine and the basis of the fierce foreign policy debate that preceded the Iraq Invasion and has continued since. Palin either did not know what the Bush Doctrine was (which seems likely) or she deliberately avoided endorsing it and instead endorse the position held by Obama and Biden. THIS IS NEWS, people!

IMO, McCain's lack of computer skills is a very important issue. Question: How many of you "Americans" have any clue what it takes to be a VPOTUS? I doubt any of you do -- there are no classes in school on the subject, and if there were, no one would take them. As for experience -- we have career politicians running the US Capitol who have been around for quite some time and have accomplished almost nothing during that time (remember, Congress is now doing worse -- with only two years since the last election -- in public opinion than the president) -- so what does the experience matter? It really doesn't -- Joe Biden is no more prepared than Sarah Palin -- he's just been a lousy politician longer. That all being said, it sure seems an aweful lot of people on here are VP experts based on the way all of you so freely trash other people who are willing to take the job AND put up with your senseless blabberings.

As for me -- I'd hate the job, and wish well anyone who would take it and do something good with it. From what I've seen over the past 20+ years, the following acronym seems to always be true:

L = Lenin
I = Is
B = Best
E = Especially
R = Right
A = After
L = Liberty's
S = Stolen

He argues that “how a politician campaigns tells you a lot about how he or she would govern.” He writes that there is a direct “relationship between the character of a campaign and that of the administration that follows.” I agree. Iam a New Hampshire voter and a real fan/supporter of Hillary Clinton, i "probably" would have voted for Obama in November,although i will never figure out why Obama did not choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate, but now that Mccain that has chosen Palin as his running mate, i most assuredly WILL vote for Obama in November. Obama is in New Hampshire for two days this weekend, as well as McCain being in the state on Sunday, Biden was in NH on Wednesday.
