Given that Clinton ran in the primary for President and Palin is on the ticket for VP, I am disappointed by their decision.

Those who wish to be the leaders of our country must be able to face the leaders of this world both good and bad. Should it be the future when one of them could be the President of this country, will they simply protest then or will they engage in diplomacy - even though that diplomacy would be tense at best.

If we do not acknowledge leaders of countries which we do not support and often openly detest, then we have no other recourse but to one day meet them in battle.

I fully understand and agree with the need to protest his presence at the U.N. General Assembly, but the protest should not come from those who wish to be the top leaders in our country.

Because with that distinction comes the responsibility of working with countries that are both friend and foe alike.

Turning a blind-eye to our enemies is a bad decision.

It's an enormous understatement to state I'm no fan of Mahmoud Ahmadienjad, but I do think it is unbecoming for a sitting US Senator and a Sitting Governor to participate in a protest of any foreign leaders presence at the UN. Do they both believe the US should not have granted a visa? If so then speak out against the Bush administration granting the visa, but protesting his attendance at the opening session of the UN is not only political (to score points), but not appropriate for the VP candidate, or the Jr. Senator from NY. Is Senator Schumer, the Sr. senator from NY, who is Jewish, going to join the protest? I doubt it. Does that mean he's less of a supporter of Israel than Palin or Clinton? Of course not!
