I guess the best way to mask you lack of knowledge is to keep things very general. Any regular person off the street could have made this comment. And I do not subscribe to the "she's one os us" camp. Look our Presidents and VPs should be exceptional, intelligent, and highly informed people. They should care about, understand, and vigorously represent us. But if the past 8 years hasn't taught these Americans this lesson, I don't know what will. Well, you have two choices:

1)Deregulate and ignore Wall Street and believe the myth that they will self-regulate, then use taxpayer dollars to bail them out when they fail in order to save the pensions, 401(k)s, and insurance contracts that protect so many Americans; or

2)Enforce common-sense regulations in order to protect Americans' money and avoid the whole mess.

Either way, the taxpayers pay for it. In case you can't tell, Option 1 is Bush/McCain; Option 2 is Obama/Biden.

This particular bailout might be the first one that does make sense, Sarah. This company insures ordinary people's cars, homes, little retirement plans, small buinesses as well as backing many of the mortgages on their homes and businesses. AIG's failure would massively impact our economy badly.

So Sarah, why don't you offer a good plan instead of criticizing? I know, too Democratic sounding. Try this. Cut the salaries of the guys at the top to minimum wage, cut stock options, and the bail-out probably could be easier.

Palin is right....the AIG matter is troubling. It should never have happened. McCain in 2005 warned of the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac situation but congress didn't listen. Dodd, Kerry & Obama are the biggest winners in support from FM & FM.

The energy bill that passed the house is a joke. Drill where oil isn't...now that is a real solution. Pelosi is a joke.

My understanding from economic experts that if AIG had not been bailed out then it would have turned into a pay me now or pay me later issue. Not having bailed out AIG wouldhave sent a huge rippple effect throw wall street and would have impacted thousands of large and small businesses who are insured by AIG. The experts say this was not like bailing out a Bank as some have been turned down on their request but more like a failure to bail out Fannie and Freddie where thousands of U.S. citizens would have been destroyed economically.

So if Palin is against the bail out of AIG is she not therefore against the small business person and those indviduals who would have been seriously impacted by AIG going under?

Of course she is disappointed with the bailout of AIG. I'm disappointed with the bailout. As far as I know we are both taxpayers. Or I should say, I know I'm a taxpayer. If we didn't bail out the company who employs 130,000+ workers, what would she do then? Unemployment only lasts so long. If she and her running mate only understood the implications of the republican deregulations we would never have had to bail out AIG or Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac or Bear Stearns. Lehman Brothers would still be a solid investment bank and Merrill Lynch would not have been bought out by Bank of America. Does she not realize that with the unemployment number rising, that has a "trickle down" effect to more of a meltdown for our economy? More is coming out on Sarah: She spent $50,000 of taxpayers money to redecorate her mayoral office. I gues that's OK but she is disappointed that an insurance company which has underwritten billions of dollars of home mortagages should be bailed out. She does not have a clue what would happen if AIG were allowed to fail. Personally, I don't like it either that they are getting taxpayers money. But at least the government will have 80% ownership to manage their practices.

MSNBC: A number of Sentors are asking McOld to disclose his medical records. This is a reasonable request, given McCain's history of cancer and his age. One third of our Presidents have not completed their term in office. One third of the men aged 72, live an additional 4 years. These facts must be considered when voters pick the next POTUS. I would not want to risk Palin being able to push the nuclear button. She lies and is not the best choice for VP. John put his campaign before the country.

This is how this "disappointing" deal works.

Under the deal, the Federal Reserve will provide a two-year $85 billion emergency loan at an interest rate of about 11.5 percent to AIG...the government has the authorization to remove top management (whech they have and named a former AllState head to manage.) and will be paid back in full with the sale of various AIG assets over time.

This Ms. Palin is a Fire Sale investment in the largest issurer anywhere.

It's about time we Invested in American companies rather than borrowed from foriegn countries, isn't it?

Does Sarah have any clue that in 1999 McCain supported a bill by Phil Gramm to lift regulations on banks and insurance companies (The Gramm Leach Bliley Act)that had been put in place since the great depression? Does she have any idea that in 2002 McCain personally introduced a bill to futher deregulate finacial institutions form government interfercence? Does she realize that by removing this government oversight of Lehmans, AIG, Merril, Bear, etc, etc, allowed these companies to write and insure the bad loans that have put them out of business today. Does she realize that as recent as March McCain called himself the deregulator and that 'I am always for further deregualation of financial institutions.' Does she realize that yesterday McCain stated that the government should NOT bail out AIG as he has no idea what the true ramifications would have been to allow AIG to fold.
Did the republican party really have a Disney view of Wall Street and not realize that CEO's are not looking out for their shareholders but themseleves. Now McCain is acting life a tough guy stating that these were bad men...no kidding, everybody has knowen that since the great depression, thus the reason for regulation. Obviously Sarah knew none of this our she would not open her mouth. Her running mate caused these problems that she is very sorry about.

We need big thinkers, world thinkers. These two are not either, they would truly be the third term of Bush. I listened to Palin speak last week and it was like listening to a female version of George W. The US needs better than that. The scariest thing to me is that the country is so very polarized, as evidenced in the various posts here. McCain/Palin will not solve this problem, they will promote it even more. America needs a way to heal, a way to come together. Look at the big picutre. Stop the smallness, think on a larger scale. Obama and Biden may not have all the answers but they have surrounded themselves with some of the best advisers in their fields, world thinkers. They listen and seek out best advice. Would a McPalin supporter please explain something to me. What lessons did John McCain learn from the savings and loan debacle of the late 80s, where unregulated lending practices caused a financial industry to plummet requiring a massive taxpayer financed bail out? McCain, of course, was involved in this, he was 20% of the Keating Five. So I repeat - What lessons did McCain learn to make sure something like this never repeats? Because, it just did.
