McCain's decision to hold an airport rally while skipping a tour of a city still reeling from summer flooding has some in Cedar Rapids grumbling.

And for good reason, I would say. As a politician, one of the first places you stop in a state is a disaster-struck town like Cedar Rapids. But to stop in that town and just hold a rally at the airport is pretty callous.

As the weeks and months progress - it unfortunately has become more apparent that anything that stumbles out of McCain's mouth is- less and less and still less believable.

As a conservative Independent - we're forced to either look the other way or take our head out of the sand and face the reality that sadly this man's - ethics, principals and any sense of true representation of what he would do as President has long since been compromised.

I can say as a loyal supporter of McCain in 2000 - this version is very disappointing. Maverick? That was a long time ago. I honestly am to the point that I don't trust what's coming out of his mouth anymore and Palin simply says what they hand feed her. Simply put - he's lost this fellow Veteran's trust!

If other Independents and Republicans choose to ignore the countless flips- flops, pandering and Not-so-straight talk - you go right ahead. If this Campaign is even an inclining as to how he would run his Presidency - color us (our family) very unimpressed. In fact, to a former supporter- he's been somewhat of an embarrassment. From actual POLICIES or lack thereof- to the constantly saying whatever it takes to appeal to the most voters - to playing Politics with the VP choice - and much more! Just look at the 'advisors' that each Candidate, has chosen to surround themselves with. Look at the way they get impute and make a formulated decision. It has been very telling and speaks volumes to how they would actually Govern.

Probably the best example is his selection of Palin with ONLY soft vetting, will ultimately prove a huge error in judgment. The GOP can try playing the sexism card to bail them out - but Palin’s various scandals will eventually weigh them down (already starting to). Mix into the equation the - evangelical extremism, non-separation of church and state and an obvious lack of comprehension or experience on Foreign policy and you have the makings for a mess. Then throw in the Senator’s age and health issues and you have a potential disaster both on US soil and abroad. Talk about a risk.

Lord knows Obama would not have been my first or even 3rd choice he has flopped or at least shifted on some issues to the center. I do feel his lack of experience is a risk (although Biden Foreign Policy Chops does help especially in the 'new role' of the VP).

Anytime a new President is elected it's a risk - but it's becoming clearer by the day that John McCain and Sarah Palin represent a FAR bigger risk to this country's economy and National Security.

So you can choose to ignore the lack of real solutions, the lying, the pandering, the political posturing, the poor decision- making, the lack of a cohesive plan for working people and now even it seems like obstruction of justice (Troopergate) - Can some of you see the forest through the trees?

Hey, It may have taken me 48 year to vote for another Democrat - but this choice has become clearer by the day and while they are certainly no Reagan/Bush. Senator Obama and Biden you have earned my lovely wife and my vote! (you already had 3 of 4 of our kids vote).

I would urge anyone, especially fellow Independents to take a real good look at what is offered here- the actual policies, experience, age & ties to lobbyist and special interest groups. Who would really work to bring people together across Party lines? Who would surround themselves with the best minds and consider different impute before making an important decision? Who is better fit to restore America’s greatness throughout the world? Who do you really trust more to put more money in your pocket 4 years from now. And perhaps most importantly but simply of all- of McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden - who do you trust?

Luckily, people like us are NOT too old or too stubborn or too programmed and certainly not too racist - to see the better option THIS time around. Not only for people like us, but mostly for our wonderful children and grandchildren and yours as well.

Thanks for allowing this old dog to be heard. (hey I’m still 10 months younger than McCain)

And given MSNBC's article on problems that may be associated with voting on election day due to heavy turnout, it sounds like a real good idea to vote early. I think we who are active with GOTV efforts need to prepare people for long waits on election day.

Of course, that will benefit my daughter's girl scout troop as they will be selling cookies at one of the polling places.

Now that the lipstick has come off the repugnant one's piggy party the polls are returning to favor Obama. So funny how the repugnant ones are touting how "Sinner" Sarah is fielding questions from the hand picked audience from hand picked stooges who ask pre-arranged softball questions. When will she show the courage to go on Rachel Maddow's new show and field questions from Rachel? Never is the answer because she's too unprepared to face a real reporter who will ask her real tough questions instead of the softball questions Hannity lobbed her way.

We can blame the repugnant ones for the global financial crisis, the failed VooDoo Economics of Ronny Raygunz and his clueless foot soldiers Bush/McCain. We can blame Phil Gramm for deregulating the banking industry and causing the Wall Street Massacre of 9/15/08. After "Bush Hugger" McCain loses on November 4th we'll be seeing him milling around muttering "Beware the Ides of September".

I live in VA Beach and I see a lot more Obama support than I do McCain support. This is Thelma Drake/military territory so it's surprising. When Obama had his pre-primary speech, there were people camping out. When Biden was at the convention center a few weeks ago, it was impossible to get a seat..

Obama bumper stickers far outnumber McCain ones. Same with lawn signs. Not a good indicator, I am aware, but neither are some of these polls.

Interesting that Palin cancelled her scheduled visit to the area that was supposed to happen today..Interesting.

The point that I pick up on is the early voting in Colorado. On NPR, a man called in, who moved to Indiana, but whose wife, a Republican, got a letter from that Party to send into CO for an absentee ballot. Does this mean a dual attack from the McCain campaign; get out-of-state Republican voters to vote in the battleground states and block legitimate in-state Democratic voters?

Why is Edwards' affair being brought up, while McCain's (he, too, now admits them) are not? Why don't we discuss the fact -- admitted by the candidate in CNN interviews -- that McCain cheated on his wife several times after he came back from Vietnam. On the wife who had waited for him faithfully. On the wife who had been rendered partially disabled and less attractive by a serious automobile accident. Her comment -- again, admitted to by McCain -- that, she wanted him to be 40, but he wanted to be 25. Let's run some quotes from McCain's ex- on his infidelity.

Oh, by the way: Edwards is not running for anything, while McCain is running for President of the United States. So why are we talking about Edwards' sleaziness rather than McCain's?

Discount any ARG poll -- their polls traditionally lean Republican and conservative -- and, in general, are off by 5-10%. According to most of the other, more respected polls (Rasmussen, Quinnepiac, CNN and SurveyUSA), Obama has large leads in ALL New England states, incl New Hampshire -- and those leads have held even at the height of the bounce that McCain got from the Republican Convention and Palin's nomination for VP. Nationally, this wk of severe financial crisis and massive Wall St. drops in value of stocks & mutual funds -- the polls are picking up a 5% to 8% swing of support to Obama. For anyone who cares -- look up the latest national and state polling at realclearpolitics.com. From Mon onwards, the national and battleground edge has switched from a sea of red (McCain) to an ocean of blue (Obama).

Why isn't First Read picking up on that? Surprisingly, MSNBC seems to be missing in action.

I'm suggesting to my co-workers, who say they don't like "Mr. Old Teeth" but can't bring themselves to vote for Obama (because they are stupid,) they should vote for Barr. That way they get to register a protest at the two parties and we get to have a decent President (Obama). I may even send money to Barr's campaign.

Get ready for a (hopeful) onslaught of pre-emptive "Voter Fraud" TV segments. It's the Repub's last chance to rig this election in minority districts...

There's a book written by an GOP ex-rigger (who got caught and went to prison) interviewed on MSM last night, so this is not some weak-a** conspiracy theory.

Let's be smart and be vigilent with our municipalities' election plans:

1) Ignore any fliers stating "You can vote on November 5th if the lines are long." (You cannot.)
2) Get there EARLY on 11/4, not late in the evening.
3) Minority Districts: DO NOT be intimidated by men in black armbands and holstered sidearms. (incredible!)
4) Make sure there are plenty of voting booths.
5) If you can vote early -- before 11/4 -- do so.

There are more tactics, but this was all the author gave as a teaser.

Let's exercise our right in great numbers! Best of Luck to all Dem's.
