An RTC solution will stabilize the market. But the bad loans do not go away - they go into a new entity that then begins work-outs, foreclosures, etc. B/C that entity is a governmental agency - the "hit" on the bad loans is ultimately absorbed by you, the taxpayers, instead of by the banks that made the bad loans in the first place. The fallacy will be that while the market recovers, the bad loan problem will still exist. Investors in sub-prime markets win, they don't take any hickey. You, the taxpayers, lose b/c the eventual net loss on all these loans shows up as part of the national debt. Ain't life fun??

As happened in 1985 when the Farm Credit System failed, the other question is what homeowner safety net is built into the new entity's legislation. Will work-outs on loans be required? Will lenders be required to cram down loan amount to less than 100% of appraised value and write off the rest? There are lots of ways to restructure bad loans - and Obama should focus on what happens AFTER they are moved over into a huge "bad bank" the day after.

*I've posted this on some of the other First Read articles, and I have done this because I feel it is so important to get the truth and the facts out. Polls are starting to turn as the truth comes out...in Obama's favor. McCain and Palin have been forced to talk about a real issue - the economy. McCain is self-admittedly inept when it comes to the issue of the economy. And don't make me mention Sarah Palin's lack of qualification to be in a position of power and decision (VP).

McCain now reads from the same notecards that Palin needs. She knows absolutely nothing in regards to foreign policy, economic policy, taxes, regulation, or any other aspect of federal government on a national and international level. That is why she repeats the same phrases verbatim in each and every speech and "interview" she has participated in. By the way...being "interviewed" by Sean Hannity is NOT considered putting yourself out there for the media. He is a fervent McCain supporter, conservative Republican, and a self-admitted opponent of Obama. McCain on the other hand, sold his soul for this election. He is flip-flopping on positions he has held for 26 years and selling it to the American people as his philosophy! He is unfit to lead. Plain and simple. Lets not even mention Sarah Palin's readiness or ability to lead. Even if I was a hardcore Republican, I would NOT vote for McCain simply because of his VP pick. Maybe if he was 10-15 years younger, it wouldn't be as big of an issue. Still reckless and desperate, but not so pivotal to the campaign. McCain knows this is his last chance to run for President of the United States. He will do whatever it takes, tell as many lies as he needs, and deceive the American people as much as he can as long as it wins him this election. I hope the American people are much smarter than this. We need someone who is talented, capable, INTELLIGENT, diplomatic, forward-thinking, future-driven, and uniting. That man IS Barack Obama. His eloquence is unsurpassed. Does that make him an elitist? Does that mean his speeches don't have substance? No. Listen to John McCain and Sarah Palin talk about the economy. They have nothing to say but the lies about Obama's tax policy. Does his Harvard Law degree make Obama an elitist? No. It makes him a critical thinker. It proves his strong legal mind. His ability to problem solve and negotiate. McCain finished 894 of 899 at the Naval Academy (where he admitted he spent his time partying and "pursuing female companions".) He was at the bottom-of-the-bottom of his class, and nearly flunked out numerous times. At the Naval Academy. Sarah Palin went to five (5) different small, low-level, easy-admission colleges and it took her six (yes, 6) years to finally graduate with a degree in journalism. Journalism. And these are the people Republicans want running the country? Because she hunts moose and opposes abortion? She is a woman who fights against womens rights. She is a mother of a special needs child who CUT THE FUNDING IN HALF FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN ALASKA. Check that fact anywhere and you will find it is TRUE. And she says she is an advocate for special needs and will carry that to the White House? With that information, special needs parents better think twice is they want that type of "advocacy" in the White House. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are hands down the best choice for America. They are the best choice for the economy, and they are the best choice for the safety of this country. They are the best choice for women's rights. They are the best choice for the middle class (despite what the Republicans are trying to force-feed the public, Obama will LOWER THE TAXES of 95% of working Americans. He will lower them MORE than McCain's plan does!

Let me guess: his plan calls for more taxes, no drilling, getting natural gas from the stove, and a visit from the energy fairy-all proposals he has gotten from his advisors and campaign contributors-those who brought us the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae and lehman brothers debacles.

I'm tired of his song and dance, but, what's worse, I started out disliking this untried, inexperienced Chicago political hack, and now I actively despise him. Heaven help us if he actually gets elected.

McCain has referred to himself as " The Deregulator" and " The fundamentals of the economy are sound" and Phil Grahm, his future Secretary of the Treasury has called the middle class "winers"

Obama accuses McCain of running from his record. That's an easy statement to make because Mr. Obama hardly has a record (almost always has voted "present")and what he does have he's constantly running from. In Illionois he voted against a bill to help babies live who survive an abortion. Now he runs from that record with all kinds of distortions which have been proven false. He runs from any looking into some of his housing dealings while a community organizer. He was against off-shore drilling until he saw the polls and then later said he agreed with it. He called the surge in Iraq a failure and doomed it until recently pressed on it he now says it succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. He talked big about taxing Corporations until recently he now says he may not tax them. He says Washington insiders are our problem and then he picks one of the oldest Washington insiders (Biden) to be his running mate.

Is he really "one of us"??

Wrong- Biden is not an insider of Washington. He works in Washington and has maintained an outside distinction form the other Senators. Nice try- not buying. Senator Biden has suffered far too much and given to this country and maintained a beautiful family. He is a hero to me! He did not abandon his children like Mccain did, so if you don't back off on Biden, I'm gonna go full speed ahead with the 'facts'about the adulterer mccain.
