Obama is taking a sober look at our financial situation and calling on a bipartisan effort to arrest the slide that we're seeing on Wall Street. He wisely differentiated between the short term steps that the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION must take to stabilize the financial system and what he, or McCain, can do next year to lead us forward.

They planned this mess from the get go and it got out of hand....now we tax payers not only help make the "have mores" even wealthier – but we have to help bail them out - because of their greed.

I would like to share a short story on what kind of election this year is.

While I was shopping at lunch at one of those outlet stores, I heard Obama's voice coming from a TV set. I went looking for where it was coming from and when I found the open door to the store's break room, I looked in and watched young girls standing and sitting, listening with rapt attention to Obama speaking. This is the kind of year this is....the kind where not since the Spring of 1968 have I seen young people inspired like they are now.

Now this makes sense to me......Obama is taking the timne to come up with a SOLID plan for this mess the republicans have caused. If we allow McCain at the wheel, there is no telling where we will be in another 4 years.

If we will just sit back and compare how both of these campains have been run, it will give us an insight on how they will run the white house and frankly I have not been impressed by all the knee-jerk reactions from the McCain camp. I really think that America is looking for a bold leader; someone who is going to get up and talk about reform, someone who understands the difference between short-term and long-term, and someone who will secure our future and lead us into the 21st century. But in a time when Americans are looking for change, willing to take a chance, both the candidates are playing it safe, why?

Yes, we can stem the tide of this 'crisis', but how are we going to prevent it in the future. The debt, balancing the budget, regulating the industry, developing policy for big business (auto makers), making it so families can earn a living wage, trade deficits and inequalities. It's nice that both of our candidates support the Fed, but I haven't been impressed.

This is a very good example that Obama is ready to lead in a crisis.
Obama is calm and reassuring. His plan is well thought out and timely.
Contrast that with McCain who is all over the place, saying something on Tuesday and then saying the opposite on Wednesday. He has no plan. He seems to be in panic mode. Is this how McCain would respond to a crisis as president? Do we really trust him to respond to a 9-11 type crisis if he can't handle an economic problem?

Obama had the foresight to propose a 6 point plan in March 2008 that addresses the larger issues. McCain didn't have a plan until after it happened, as if this crisis was a surprise!

I think that Obama is once again showing his intelligence by waiting to make a proposal AFTER he sees what the federal government is going to do. It would be pointless to make further suggestions when the gov't is being so active right now.

I have spoken with economic experts, and asked for their honest opinion about his Sept. 16th speech. They all strongly agreed with the proposals he made. When it comes to Economy, Obama gets it, McCain does not.

It's like a horrible, nightmarish deja'vu; 18th Century, English style.

This is the same thing that happened with King George III of England. He started to go MAD toward the end of his life(reign), surrounding himself with "doctors" who were all terribly concerned with condition of the "royal stool"! The republicans have certainly left the American people with a huge pile of this tale-tell substance to clean up after the "thankful" end of the terroristic reign of King George II, of America.

Lets recap...

King George I, of America, a.k.a. George H. W. Bush (1988-92). A smouldering time in American history, dominated by republican political thuggary and a festering culture of secrecy and corruption at the highest level of Government, coupled with the continuing greed mentality of the 1980's.

Then....after a relatively peaceful and prosperous period from 1992-2000, under the leadership of President Bill Clinton, the U.S Economy was lifted up by broad based economic progress and stability,....<thunder rolls>.....then, a true disaster struck...

The US Supreme Court, dominated by Republican partisans, stopped the democratic process of conducting a recount, and handed the Presidency to a REAL-Live DUNCE;

King George II (a.k.a. George W. Bush; a.k.a. Herbert Hoover II) ascended to the Throne. Under the dubious leadership of one so completely unqualified, America began a long period of economic and social decline that has ended in economic disaster. Our prestiege on the World stage had been almost completely deminished, terrorism is on the rise, and the overall security of the World at large has been threatened. The disasterous REIGN of King George II will easily go down in history as the "worst in the history of the United States". King George II should be under strong consideration for permenant exile to Devil's Island, for High Crimes and Misdemeanors he committed during his "reign of terror".

Now we actually might get something like a King George III, only WORSE -- with John McCain. Too old to make good decisions, and seems to be having some cognitive difficulties lately. A republican win would be a death blow to America as we know it. We can't afford anymore erosion of our civil rights. The republicans have been completely dishonest with the American people, and they have misused our trust. The do not deserve to have another chance at power. Not now, maybe not ever.

Obama seems to get it more than John MacCain.

This is not unprecedented!

The Chinese government has done it over their 30 years reform period from a planned economy to a market driven economy. They have set up 4 assets management firms to digest the bad assets created by their own policy over the 1949-1977 periods.

The US government is doing the same to set up fund to manage the bad assets created by its own deregulation (congress and administration is at the helm), tax cut for the wealthy (republicans), greed on Wall Street bankers and by CEOs (republicans and democrats).

Paulson has watched the Chinese government cleans up their own mess over the past three decades and his indepth understanding of the issue on a global magnitude allows him to offer this sweeping reform.

There is no other way out of this but to have the government to clean up the mess it created at the first place. Yet, common taxpayers are getting the double dipping effects. First, the past 8 years policy has really taken a toll on the middle class already, now, we have to commit ourselves and our children’s future 20 – 30 years to digest the mess created by the ruling elites.

Democracy in this country or any other ones are for people who has money since it take so much to run for an election. Democrats have the right philosophy to regulate big business to protect the common man, yet it is the big businesses who contribute to their campaigns to begin with. Republican is for big business, their own pockets at the expense of the middle class.

Please choose wisely for this election, Democratic Party is the lesser evil of the two.

I agree that Barack Obama does think before he acts, this is a very sobering time in our economy.
I'm retired, and I rely on my investments to offset the drop in income since I've retired. This market is scary!!
For far to long Wall street has been playing loose with the freedom of anything goes/ no regulations/ republican ideas,and agenda.
We need real change now!!!
