two contradicting points to the lifetime poll:
1. a good portion of sen. obama's volunteers - at least here in our area and i suspect elsewhere - are white, over 60 women who are working hard for sens. obama/biden for their children and grandchildren.
2. in many divided homes where the spouses differ on whom they support, it is the woman who is supporting sen. obama.
3. as a student of statistics, even i am beginning to question the authenticity of these poll. perhaps as we have become a nation divided with biases strong and convictions firm - whether true or not - a new methodology needs to used to filter for this; how i'm not quite sure, but then i'm not getting paid to know.

These numbers are a result only of having a woman on the ticket. Now that we have become more aware of Palin's actual policies pertaining to women, any woman who actually thinks rather than only reacts, has realized that just because she's a woman doesn't necessarily mean that she supports issues that most women care about. No birth control, no abortions under any circumstances, abstinence only sex education, creationism taught in schools, little support for programs addressing violence against women, war first, diplomacy maybe later, no focus on education & health care reform; I don't think so.

The sad fact of the matter is that there are plenty of people in this country who would rather vote for someone who they can "relate to" over someone who can actually lead. They can "relate to" someone who doesn't really know that much about the economy because they don't really know that much about the economy themselves. They can "relate to" someone who takes the time to make sure her hair is just right because they just spent the last hour and a half at the salon. Well I don't understand what it means to be a "women". I do understand what it means to be a President or a VP. From what I know about each candidate and their VP pick is that Obama's plan is far better and more comprehensive than McCain's. I just got done reading the Health Care Plan of both and under McCain's, unless I am in the 35% tax bracket and have a family, which I am not and do not have, I will be getting nothing out of it. In fact, I will be loosing money and I can bet that companies when not taxed by this will not have that money go into the salaries of their workers unless it is in the top Exec level.

will be watching. When they see, along with the rest of voting America what the candidates have to offer the shiney will fade from Gov. Palin. This woman has no business in this race, she is a farce. The GOP women and men are going to vote for McCain and thats that. The new registrations are the turning point in this election, the youth will vote. With the exceptions of a few racist and a few Hillary supporters the dems will come home after last week.

Numbers mean something, but this election night, I'll keep my fingers crossed until all the actual numbers come in because I don't think polling--including the highly touted-as-reliable exit polling--is reliable at all. There are so many factors weighing against it including the subject that is still not widely discussed: race. Obama demonstrates that he understands how the cards are stacked, and I do hope that he wins. But it's going to be a close shave.
