The Bush Administration sadly drew a line in Iraqi sand that pitted the American Public against itself...support for the wrong war is Patriotism. Opposition to the war is treachery. Add the element of fear to fuel the fire and Bush succeeded in burning the national unity we experienced after 9/11.

This is a sad era in our short lived history. Hopefully we will learn from our arrogant mistakes and regain our respected footing globally, and begin to rebuild trust of common Americans in our government.

Amen to that! No party has a monopoly on patriotism, or Christian faith, or American values, or hard work, etc. We need to respect one another and discuss our differences with an attitude of tolerance. Tearing one another down demeans all of us and hinders our progress as a country.

If I could be in Congress, I'd try to pass a bill that required ads to be about the candidate ONLY. No ads lying or disparaging the other candidate could be aired. I know this infringes on free speech, but these ads can be very confusing and downright misleading. Thus, if the candidates only spoke about themselves, they would be forced to discuss their policies and positions, not their perspectives on the opposition. How much money could we save then? And we might actually be better informed as a nation.

For now, however, I am just ignoring all TV,web, and radio ads. They're the least effective way to get real info. So glad I didn't waste time getting cable this summer. . .

What Bush, and McCain for that matter have in mind is the gradual removal of troops from Iraq, as the Iraqi government, and military are able to take over and take in their place. There is a big difference between ending our involvement after we've been successful, and are no longer needed, and setting a "drop dead" date that would pull our troops without regard for the consequences.

I have 4 cousins and a niece all now seriving in Iraq. They all email me and ask my advise on issues pretaining to the military. I simply told them if you want to come home with your tail between your legs vote Obama ! Or Vote McCain finish the job and come home Hero's ! They asked if Obama seemed like a man that could lead ? I replied, he couldn't fight his way out of wet paper bag ! They laughed and then asked who I was supporting and why. I told them McCain. Why ?
1. better national defence
2. more experience in dealing with national issues
3. understands what they are going through
4. more trustworthy, he not a muslim like your fighting.

They said that was enough and said they would back McCain as well. I then told them to spread the word a about what we had talked about and gave them a web site to look up, if they could. usweekly.com. That alone will make up your mind. I did also explain Obamas closest friends and what they have done...
Ayers, Wright, Reszko, Farrakan, to name a few. I was asked in a later email hiw he got the nomination, I said it was given to him by the DNC. Hillary had more pop votes. Then explained how hillary was screwed over by the dnc and how obama was given delegets that he never campaigned for earned. MI Then went on to explain how Obama wants to socialize America like the old USSR, giving free health care to illegals etc. Not to mention that we will make all the illegals here Americans if they vote for him. Oh and how he plans to almost triple the amount of taxes we pay.
Needless to say I informed my fighting family abroad about Obama !!!!

My guess is Joe either forgot that Track Palin is deploying soon (He hasn't actually deployed, they were having the ceremony on 9/11, before Palin was picked, so Palin could make a speech). Joe personally knows John, and has since before John was married to Cindy. They know each others children, so he was thinking about Johns children. Also Palin didn't make the remark so there really wasn't a reason to include her son.
