Right, heaven forfend that Palin should have to display actual knowledge on any subject. She's being protected from scrutiny, and for some bizarre reason I do not understand this is not considered a sign of her weakness as a candidate.

I realize that the Republican true believers think that liberals look down upon and sneer at "down-to-earth" conservatives like Palin. At least in my case, they are partially correct--I DO look down upon her, not for her gender, certainly not for coming from a small town (so do I, originally), and not for being conservative. I think she is a lightweight candidate because she has a lightweight record (filled with serious mistakes) and has expressed no evidence of having a firm grasp on the issues. Every day they protect her from the media simply heightens my certainty that's she's unready to lead this nation we all love.
